You may wonder why I'm gonna talk about forgetting something while you will probably find a thousand articles online on boosting up our brainpower. Well, we all have some unpleasant memory, no? Those memories bother us, make us uncomfortable for uncountable times. Forgetting or making them hidden in our brains can save us. It's just not my words. Researchers also support this process.
Here I'm sharing some of the tips that I have learned over time, which I think can help to forget something easily.
- When some memory flashes in your head all of a sudden, just breath. Take a deep breath and relax. These few seconds can change lot of things. It can distract our minds, shift our focus and make us forget what we were thinking. But this doesn't have any long term effect. I mean if you want to permanently forget something, it takes time. And you have to practice these little things repeatedly to forget any memory.*
Forgetting something permanently is not actually possible. But we can make ourselves forget the things or hide them from our memory.
Our brain designs this way so we can do that. Our brain usually hides any trauma or worse memory until it thinks we are prepared to fight with it. But when our brain decides to make us recall that memory, it doesn't become any pleasant one.
So, it's better to learn to hide that again if we don't want to face it.
- Using logic to fight the fear of memory can help us. And distracting ourselves always helps a lot. make yourself visualize a totally different thing whenever those memories start flashing in your head. Remember, you are not running away, you are dealing it in your own way for your own good.
We can't fight with everything. Sometimes it better to forget something than fighting with it. Empty your mind and visualize something good, bring back some good memory in your mind and it will gradually heal you.
