The Journey of Making the First Broad Gauge Rail line of NEPAL (for track linking) started on December 2017 with the hope of completing the work in 2018.

I was very excited to work in the different country. The Journey is all about the feeling, ups and downs, problems and all the other. Hope you will like it.

Me and my Team started the work to make it happen. There will be full details of my experience in Nepal while making the Nepal Dream Project.

Before starting, here are some photos of us. The Team.

The Beginning :
21 Nov, 2017 : The rails which will be used for this project arrived at Mahinathpur (Nepal) by trailers. People were very excited to see there dreams coming true in near future.

Afterwards the Project Heads and other persons related to the project join in the Opening Puja for the Goodness of the project.

... and everything started...

The Welding:
So the first part of the linking project was to weld the rails to join them together. The welding machine came to Mahinathpur (Nepal) to join its first Weld.

As the work started, our India Ambassador (Nepal) Mr. Manjeev Singh Puri came to visit the work and the very next day it turned into Headline of Newspapers.

The Linking work :
Now it was time to make the bed for Rail and Sleepers to be placed.
The first place for making bed was selected in Khajuri (Nepal).
The process was following :

  1. Spread Ballast
  2. Place the Sleepers on the ballast
  3. Place rails on the Sleepers.
    That's it...

But.. It was not that easy as it sound.

So as the work kept going from Inerwa (India-Nepal Border) - Khajuri - Mahinathpur - Bedehi - Parwah - Janakpur - Kurtha, the interest of work among the started increasing.

The Nepali People were so happy to have a railway line in the country and that is what makes us feel proud to offer them such gift from our country India.

The Winter :
As the work stared, winter also came with it. And My GOD! It was so cold that we didn't expect it to be.
Going to the work by Motorcycle was a Night mare. Specially for the fog. It was so thick that sometimes the visibility goes down to 0 meter.

You can see the tiny water drops on my cap

But all these never effected on our work. We started working day and night to make the work done.

The work kept going on and on and our 1st target which was to complete 25km within 2month, we did that in 1.5months. That was our first achievement and gave us more energy to work.

Fun time:
We don't get much time to spend quality time or holidays. We work 7days a week with no fixed working hours (some time it can be 22hours as well). I generally goes home in 4-5months that to for 10days. But we don't have any complain about that.
Whenever we get little time or on the way of work we try to find small things to make ourselves happy.

Lifestyle :
Life is not so easy then you are working with so many machines and heavy equipments. You always have to stay focus. Still Minor accidents do happen but we keep medicines ready for that. No waste of time you know :P

More over I lost almost 13 kilos in 11 months without going to gym for a single day :D

Almost broke my leg in bike accident at Janakpur

Got lucky from a shocking car accident near Bedehi main road.

(My mom will kill me if she finds the post somehow)

But trust me, after all these I never thought of quiting and going back home.

We really worked SO hard to make it happen.
And then Finally the day had come.
08/08/2018. The History was made. First even BG train to enter in Nepal from Jaynagar . In the History of Nepal. I really got tears in my eyes that day.

Though I was at Janakpur that day and couldn't come to Jaynagar due to work ( 😋). But enjoyed a lot.

What scars the most:
The Rainfall in Nepal.
An hour of rain fall and all the planning washed out with the rain water as many areas are flooded areas and water level goes up within few hours creating problems.

Deadline of the work:
As I am writing this blog, almost 95% of Track linking is completed and the work is expected to finish in Nov 2018.
Right now I am at Janakpur with my other engineer to finish the work.

This is me Right Now 😆

I hope my team will complete the work in the given time and we will offer Nepal a beautiful Gift.

I know the writing is too long Bt hope you will like it. It's mixed with all my emotions.
Do let me know what you feel.
