I think if enough people had the correct information, and understood the gravity of the situation, it would be very possible. The problem I run into is that the people I talk to about things like this either assume that what they read or hear on the news must be coming from someone who is more educated and therefore smarter than me, or they just leave all the thinking to anyone willing to their thinking for them, so they just agree with the last opinion they heard.

But then, most of the people I know haven’t noticed that anything has really changed at all, and won’t notice if and when the net starts changing because, like you said, when things change slowly, no one notices, or maybe they just don’t care. Frog soup syndrome.
