I love Netflix, or at least I used to. My entire profile is built around how great Netflix is as it becomes more and more evident to me WAS. I don't know exactly when this happened but Netflix at some point in the past 2-4 years became a platform for the people who are in charge over at Netflix to attempt to convert us to some sort of cult-like thinking. Their series and movie choices are rife with social engineering and I am getting sick of it.

Netflix dominates the streaming industry and all the other attempts at attacking them are relatively uneventful. I'm sure that Amazon Prime probably does a thing or two but this is only in North America where people get it for free if they opt for priority package delivery which is another story on its own. The rest of the world however either has Netflix or almost zero other streaming options.
When you look at the Netflix offerings there is a very noticeable trend: They have a propensity towards encouraging what was once considered "alternative lifestyles" and how they present this as though it is normal. Mostly this is sexual in nature the way that they attempt to normalize trans and homosexual relationships which I personally do not have a problem with because I feel as though people should be able to do whatever they want, but why are they constantly putting this into every single thing that they make?

Recently, I watched a series entitled Voir where they were talking about what was meant to be the history of film and they focused on one of the most famous movies of my lifetime; JAWS. I wasn't even alive when this movie was made. Instead of focusing on how monumental this movie was, instead the decided to talk about how it was male-dominated and lacked minorities. They were kind about it because Stephen Spielberg is basically untouchable but the undertones were unavoidable: They were attacking JAWS for not being diverse enough even though it was an extremely accurate film based on the demographics of the time-period and place that it was based upon.
Instead they tried to make it a "documentary" about the trials and tribulations of minority women and how tough life was for them in the 70s.
While I have no doubt that things were tough for a lot of people during that time, including minorities. What the actual hell does any of this have to do with popular movies in the 70's let alone a truly ground-breaking film like JAWS??

Netflix already pushes a social agenda into almost all of their programing in that they really want the focus of everything (so it seems) to be on gay or minority characters and this is fine because I and everyone else that is sick of being preached to can just walk away. But I have to draw the line at people attempting to paint films that were made nearly 50 years ago as being not up to the standards of today's social justice standards.
Honestly, even though my entire online persona has been based on being a Netflix fan this notion is waning. Not everything has to be a political or social issue. I just want to be entertained and not have to hear about how this person or that is marginalized in society because I don't really believe that this sort of thing is actually real. If you have a big enough platform to make a Netflix special, there is a really good chance that you actually have a much bigger wealth and influence reach than I do, even if I am not a woman or minority.
Seriously, If it wasn't for the fact that I don't actually pay for my Netflix account anyway (because I ride on someone else's subscription) I would cancel my access. Maybe that is what people need to do.
