From Nintendo To Bitcoin

Intro

Hello and welcome to my page!

This is my investing story in a nutshell.

D'oh!

My first foray in the stock market was as an observer.

I was very adamant to get my father to invest in Apple back in 2007, before they came out with something called an "eye phone". Needless to say that was a giant missed opportunity. He invested in other stocks at the time, and dismissed the iPhone as inferior to Blackberry.

I ended up saving some money and so...I entered the arena. WALL STREET HERE I COME!

Now You Are Playing With Power, Trading Power

I started trading stocks before 2007, before the Wii came out. That investment was successful. It was so successful it paid off all the money I had invested into videogames since I started playing them up to this day.

Enter Netflix

I was then inspired to invest in Netflix, this was when it was worth less than 40 dollars (US) per share. That was successful, but I sold those shares for around 80$ each.

Return To Nintendo

I invested in Nintendo yet again before the Switch came out. That investment proved successful as well.

Bitcoin: A Meteor Crashes, Changing My Life Forever

I was first introduced to the cryptocurrency world by a friend back in 2012-2013. She spoke to me about something called 'Bitcoin', saying it was used by the mafia and for lots of illegal activities such as drug dealing.

Naturally, as a result of this information, I was extremely wary of the idea of even putting a cent into it, so did not even entertain the idea. 1 Bitcoin was worth somewhere between 1-2k at that time.

Fast forward 4-5 years later...I had watched a documentary on Netflix called 'Banking on Bitcoin' in August of 2017 where I quickly changed my mind. It just made sense to me, and it was as if YHWH had removed the scales from my eyes to see the true potential of this investment. I read articles on the internet at a feverish pace, doing my research diligently. I ended up buying 1 Bitcoin for roughly just over 9k (CAD). I eventually sold that and made more money in 2 months than I did in over 4 years of investing in Nintendo.

Bonus: CAVEAT

I tried daytrading one week in the stock market. I invested a substantial amount. I ended up making 10k in 1 day. The next day, I lost 10k. I realized how volatile the market can be, and at the time, I knew very little compared to what I now know regarding technical analysis and position trading (Thanks to QFL!).

I had considered day trading with crypto, but since the crypto market is even 100x more volatile than the stock market, I have decided to position trade, setting up my trades during the work week and aiming to buy low, below the base and selling my positions and cashing out no later than Sunday night, since Monday morning I have noticed that ALL crypto goes down WITHOUT FAIL once the stock exchange opens on Monday at 8 am.
