Here are some facts about Net Neutrality that every single person that is for it apparently doesn't know!
There was no such thing as Net Neutrality in the United States before February 2015.
It was the Obama Administration that pushed it into existence.
The Net Neutrality regulations in the United States were authored by Google
a. Why would Google be for Net Neutrality?
- Google is the fastest ISP in the entire World
- Google is a massive content creator
What does that have to do with anything??
Allow me to break this down for you.
Net Neutrality means that every ISP must treat all internet traffic the same; the same speed, load time, bandwidth and price. So when content providers pay your ISP they get the same price per Mb no matter whether they hog up 60% of the bandwidth or .01% of it.
So every existing ISP (Comcast, Mediacom, At&t, Newwave, etc.) must make sure they can deliver every video, movie, TV show, website, gif and clip to each and every single customer no matter what device they are on or what quality the content is at the same speed.
With HD content and even 4K content being created this is a MASSIVE load on any network hardware (wires, switches, servers, antennas, ect.) So in order to do that the ISPs must either spend tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars upgrading all their network equipment across the country all at once or make their internet connection speeds slower for the consumer. In other words instead of the consumer getting 100 Mb/s down and 10 Mb/s up for $75 - $150, depending on your carrier and location, it could be more like 50 Mb/s down and 5 up for the same price to reduce the network load.
Google ISP is just starting really and they are spreading fast! They created their own proprietary network equipment and are deploying it all over the country. They want people to switch to them as fast as they can to get them to pay for the billions they have spent in R&D.
Net Neutrality puts a choke hold on other ISPs and limits their ability to gain the profits they need to upgrade the systems without passing the cost onto the consumers. They get that money from the content providers like Netflix, Google (YouTube), Hulu and others. Google ISP infrastructure can handle Gigabit Speeds to each and every customer with ease. No other ISP has that capability without spending tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars.
Places like Portugal has seen these restrictions and you have probably seen the photo floating around that has a mobile internet carrier, like our AT&T and Verison, breaking websites down into packages. The photo says "this is what No Net Neutrality looks like" don't buy into that bullshit!! Portugal is part of the European Union and has had Net Neutrality since 2015 as well. The truth is that, that is what Net Neutrality looks like when a carrier doesn't have the equipment to handle the load of the demand from consumers on the World Wide Web and need to pay for their infrastructures to be updated. So in order to comply with the Net Neutrality regulations they have to load balance their current network and charge extra to the consumers that want to use the biggest content providers (network bandwidth hogs) so that they can pay for the new equipment. The consumers have to pay for it because Net Neutrality says that they have to charge the content providers the same.
So in short Net Neutrality is a government regulation that chokes off capitalism, will create a monopoly for one of the biggest companies in the world and slows down the gradual advancement of technology throughout the world.
Capitalism is the ONLY economic model that has ever been successful in the entire world throughout ALL of history! And if we kill it, which we are slowly doing in this country, there will be no more America. Stop believing and repeating the lies of these morons that know nothing about anything!! They want you all to just listen to them and sheep along until they destroy this country!!!
