Hey folks, I want to take the time to discuss What is Single Mode fiber vs Multimode fiber so you know why they are necessary to carry your uplink traffic.
Single mode fiber is said to carry more bandwidth with higher transmission rate and more distance than multimode.Single mode costs more than multimode as well.
Multimode cable consists glass fibers, which provides you with high bandwidth at high speeds over smaller distances however the longer the distance, the higher the distortion therefore I suggest you keep the distances short.
So the real question is when would you use Single mode fiber vs multimode fiber. The answer is quite simple, I would use single mode fiber to interlink neighboring branch offices or buildings and would use multimode in a building with multiple floors because it makes financial sense without compromising business needs and network quality.
Thank you for reading.
