Every Tool Needs a Shed

.........................................................................................................................................................................
Garages are for Cars

We just recently bought a house. The house has a front yard and a backyard, each of which has grass, trees and shrubs. A lawnmower, hedgetrimmer, weedeater and various other implements of vegatative destruction are thus required (not to mention my wood-butchering tools)

SO

A shed is required.

The gate is open and the 'tuff-shed' guys have arrived. At first I thought about building a shed myself until I checked the prices. It's actually cheaper to buy one that make it.

One guy, the one bending over, pretty much assembled the pre-fabricated shed by himself. The other guy is his helper. The helper didn't do a whole lot.

First...the subframe for the floor.(treated lumber)

then cement blocks to sit it on and make it level

IMG_0523.jpg

then the floor

Then the walls

The boss-man's other worker showed up...they went into hyper drive. They had other jobs to do when this one was done.

and it's

DONE

IMG_0574.jpg

Elapsed time from when they arrived until they left....about two hours.

I talked to the 'boss', the strong kid who did most of the work He said he was a contractor for tuff-sheds. He was about 19 years old and said he and his crew were they youngest of about 40 crews that Tuff-Shed had working for them. They were also the FASTEST (did good work too...I inspected it). He said he usually did two or three sheds a day, he liked to make about $1,000 a DAY...(he gave his helper $100, the other worker got paid more)

Not bad.

Best I could tell all he had invested was a pickup truck, a two axel trailer, and about $1,000 dollars worth of tools (maybe less)

Other millennials could take a lesson from him.

You'll enjoy doing the lawn for a little while, so enjoy it while it last. Oh and get ready to start planing of all the flower beds for the missus.

get ready to start planing of all the flower beds for the missus.
Yup...already happening.

Patriot approves of his holiday home...
😂😂

Nice looking storage shed. Looks 12 x 12. I have one of the same size. Fills up fast. I've installed shelves and ceiling brackets to use for overhead storage as well.

Thanks.
It's an 8 x 14...I intend to do the same thing (shelves and stuff)
AFTER I insulate it.

Insulate it? Growing a little weed in there are we? Michigan has recreational use of marijuana on the ballot this November. It allows I think 2 oz. in possession and 12 plants indoors. Assuming it will bring a lot of young libtards to the polls Dem Senator Stab-me-now will probably be re-elected over veteran John James. I tried marijuana twice in Vietnam, but not since. I'm mixed on it. From all I've studied on it the prolonged use or abuse is similar to alcohol. In 'nam a $30 bag of it was so big it was hard to hide. You probably recall the two groups "heads" and "juicers". Those were the days, my friend. As the song goes.

I have no interest in weed.
Besides which my tools take up too much room for such nonsense.. I just don't like the 150+ degree temp inside during the summer.

On the subject of weed.

If someone wants to use it....go for it.
I call it evolution in action.
Far be it from me to disuade someone from removing themselves from the job pool....or the gene pool.

That kid is a go getter and he is going to do well if he keeps up that work effort!!!

When I was living in CA I considered buying all that stuff but I found a guy who would come mow and trim for way cheaper than buying/ maintaining any equipment. He charged $15 but I would usually give him 20. And he was a citizen to boot!

Glad to have you back, a lot of folks have been jumping ship.

Thank you...
Why would I pay someone and miss out on the 'joys of home ownership?'
I bought all electric 'stuff'...cordless. Zero maint.

I would not want to take the ritual of creating a useless monoculture away from you. If I could find a guy in the east who would do my yard work for $15 I would sell all my lawn equipment. I just spent a couple hours out there in the silly August heat, it has its ups and downs.
Replacement batteries for that stuff are not cheap and you still need mowerblades and string for the string trimmer and such and then trips to the orthopedist for the resulting injuries.

Thanks...I knew I could depend on you to highlight the negative.
(only kidding)
Oddly enough the batteries are rechargeable...and all interchange with my other power tools.

My wife was marveling at my ability to do that just yesterday!
I find that rechargeable batteries seldom life up to their advertised life expectancy. It's good to have ones that are somewhat standardized, the batteries on some craftsmen tools I had were pretty much shit and I found a 4 pack of them pretty cheap on Amazon so now those tools are usable again, it's frustrating to use any tool and have the battery die without another handy.

I'm pretty happy so far with Dewault
Their 20max and FlexVolt batteries interchangeably power a broad range of tools from yardwork to woodworking.

I have their drill and impact driver, I like it and the batteries so far seem ok, they charge in about the same time it takes to run one down so you can keep working consistently.

WAIT...there's more.
get a few of the 60 v (smartvolt) batteries.
they make the ever ready bunny look like a turtle.

If you like to have them in condition , then you have to treat them properly !
As for the 19 year old guy , he deserves at least respect for taking his life in his hands so early !

he's not living at home in his momma's basement I bet.

..and one day he may live in a skyscraper !

That millennial has a baby-boomer attitude.

That shed is better built that many shanty town dwellings I've seen in Venezuela.

Lmao your taking pictures of them working meanwhile they are wondering if your a quality inspector working for tuff-shed, “ohh snap he’s taking pictures bring your A game"

They knew who I was. The Tuff-Shed inspector came along later. I chewed him out cause the factory messed up on the plans...they didn't build it like I told them too. the door should have been further to the left. It wasn't the workers fault..they just assembled it.

Ahh yea, centre would give you better use of the walls near the entrance maximizing space.

Did you get a discount? My gramps was a master negotiator, I don’t think he ever paid full price.

I dunno about a discount...I pretty much told them what I wanted.
