Putting Down The Pen

I'm not a great writer by any stretch of the imagination. Like most 'bloggers' I just arrange one word in front of the next, hoping it makes sense.

Conversely, there are people out there who can not only pick the correct words, but place them more beautifully where they should be, such that they're not just a semi-random arrangement of characters.

I had a pretty long piece I was working on. I don't know why I was working on it, but I just was. The truth is, nobody is going to read it. It's very, very long and not very well written.

I read some stuff from other people and I'm blown away by how good their stuff is. Some people have the talent for the written word. Some people have simply developed the skill through years of practice.

Me, I can't even spell that well. By the way, I'm not alone in this spelling thing. If you think you can spell, I challenge you to write an essay by hand on a piece of paper. Like me, you've probably forgotten all the spelling rules you learnt as an eight year old - i before e except after c. . Remember that?

The point of this post is, in the spirit of "new Steem", I think I'll retire the blogging for now and focus on creating video, where I think my skills reside. That, and photos of course. Gotta share the photos on Appics.

I will instead let the good writers write, and consume what they produce, again in the spirit of new Steem.

That is not to say that I'm never going to blog here again, of course I will say a few words now and again, but I probably won't be writing any 4 thousand word reviews or travel posts any time soon.

Are you making any new Steem changes?

Your videos and photos are great, but I like your long form posts too. If you prefer one method or style over the other more power to you. Focus on what you enjoy and get better at that.

Personally, I'm changing my habits some on steem. I don't know if I'll post as much as my posts never seemed to develop an audience. I think I'm the only one on steem that's into domain names! 😆

Hahahaha. Domain names is pretty niche to be fair, and so 2001 haha. They were the make money quick scheme of the turn of the century and harbinger of the great dot com bust :D

Well to be perfectly honest with you, I will give the same advice I have sahered with many folks over the years...I do what I please. If I feel like doing a video, that is what I do. If I feel like a short or long blog, that is what it will be. I dont think I am particularly talented in one or the other. I do it for me, and if others want to join in that is super cool. I am just saying I play the long game. Too many folks try to "force it" and burn out before too long.

That’s good advice for sure
