Are you fed up of all the work? Do you want to get some time for you and your family? I was n a same situation, than I red a lot of books about time management, but only a few advices were really helpful for me.
In these books you can usually find such advice as make lists of your tasks, than write a list of your tasks and go. Somewhere else they advice you to combine activities – like learning foreign language by listening it while you drive a car...
But what is the problem here? If you try to do same things in a half time, you still do a lot of work so
You beome tired very fast!
What is it what we want than?
We want to make less work while having fun!
Maybe you are asking if this is possible in this fast world – you have to pay bills, meet friends, visit family and thousand other things, right? Of course it is possible and I can show you how to do that.
Make your priorities
Do you think that priorities and time effectivity have nothing in common? Come on, if you don´t know what is important for you, how do you know what you should do? How can you be sure that you don´t spend years of work on something that has no sense to you? So our first step will be to find out, what you really really want.
Now take a blank piece of paper and start writing what is important for you. Everybody has different thoughts, but most people write such things as happiness, money, family, love etc.
Don´t worry about order now, just write a list of these important things.
Now take scissors and cut it so, that you will always have one card with one thing. Now try to put these cards in order so, that the top one will be most important to you. You may also find out, that some of these things are only trash, so simply throw them out.
Take your time to have it really by your opinion. Than write it down and make sure to remember at least the first, most important thing.
Let´s say that you work a lot to make money for your family. And now you found out, that your most important thing is family. But what do you actually do in your life? You put your priority on money instead! So now it is up to you to change it.
Singletasking
To accept this, you must understand, that people aren´t able to do two things at a same time. For example a lot of people make phone calls behind a wheel and they say it is no problem for them. But truth is, that they only switch between these two tasks. It has two impacts:
a. they can´t focus on any of them, so there is a plae for misuderstandings and accidents
b. their mind is getting damaged
So if you want to spend less time with your tasks, just try to do one after another. You will see how positive it will be for you!
What do you like?
In my opinion, this way is the best of all of them. Try to remember at all your daily tasks and write them down. Than sort them in these categories:
a. It is necessary to do and I like it
b. It is necessary to do but I don´t like it
c. It isn´t necessary to do but I like it
d. It isn´t necessary to do and I don´t like it
You can take colours and make a different one for each type.
And how did we define our time effectivity?
We do less while having fun.
So it is quite simple now:
Category a: If you like it and it is necessary, there is no reason to stop with it.
Category b: You have too find out, which of those tasks you have to do and which can do somebody else. And believe me, there is very little amount of what you alone would have to do. The rest simply put on somebody else (there is planty virtual assistants in the internet)
Category c: If this is not necessary, most people will tell you to remove it. But why? To get time for hobbies that you like? But you like this too, take it as another hobby! For example I love doing statistics – it doesn´t bring me anything special, but why wouldn´t I?
Category d: Remove these tasks from your day. It only complicates your life.
