My Binance Account Was Hacked

Following the two day shutdown in early February and now rumors of a hack of a Binance third party tool, which apparently was used to manipulate price of an alt coin, this is yet another reminder to leave the majority of your coins off the exchanges even if you are a day trader.

Don’t think something won’t happen to you because it happened to me. In fact, my personal binance account was hacked in late January. A trading bot liquidated all my alts into bitcoin at the same time and transferred the funds into an outside address, all within minutes. Yes they somehow got into my email and the 2FA code. Binance did nothing but freeze my account when I reported it. I monitor that address from time to time and notice that continues to receive new bitcoin therefore it is still likely hacking into accounts and stealing funds.

It still pisses to think about it but I write this post as a warning to others. It can happen to anyone. These anonymous bitcoin addresses make it impossible to prove funds have been stolen so the exchanges are naturally a target for hackers. Trust me, they are good so be extra cautious.
