Former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has urged Myanmar to ensure that Rohingyas can not return to their home country, not in camps.
In an informal meeting of UN Security Council on Rohingya on Friday, he said that the Rohingyas need help to return to their home country. The Myanmar government needs to create such an environment that Rohingyas can go to their country with safety and dignity and make their settlement again in the Rakhine state.
Myanmar's UN Mission did not respond to calls made by Kofi Anan.
Rohingya is the world's largest non-state group and the most oppressed minority Over 2.5 million Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh due to the Myanmar army's demonstration of ethnic cleansing from August 25.
