I'm really scared of needles pointing towards my skin!
It was April 15, 2016 when our company held blood donations, the Philippine Red Cross was the one conducting for blood transfusion. By the way my name is Alfred you can call me Fred for short and I am still new here on steemit! I work as an engineer here in our company.Well anyway let’s get back to business, shall we?
It was a Sunny day when the Philippine Red Cross came to our company; the blood donation started at 9am and ended at 5pm. At first I was really scared (of course it was my first time!) Before you can donate blood, there must be a screening, the purpose of the screening is to know if your blood is safe for donation ( don’t ever donate blood if you know you are not in good shape or you have some sickness) .I was convinced by my co-workers to donate but in my heart, I really wanted to donate so that I can help people in my simple way plus they say it is also good for our body to reduce the risk of CANCER,it may help improve cardiovascular health and reduce obesity too! Well that’s a really good thing to know right?
As I remember, below is the list of what are needed for screening:
- Weight (how many kilograms are you) and your height
- They need to know if your weight and height match the requirement for blood transfusion. Because if EVER it don't match, there can be some serious problem that might happen to you.
- What Blood Group are you
- Knowing what blood group you belong is really important. Why? You don’t want to give a TYPE B to a TYPE A right? Or the other way around. They say if ever that happens, one can have a transfusion reaction. A mild transfusion reaction rarely is dangerous, but you must get treatment quickly. A severe transfusion reaction can be deadly. For more info you can check it here

- Answering some questions
- You will be answering some questions regarding your health. You will be writing it on a piece of a paper with those questions. Some of the questions as I remember were “Are you feeling good today?” “Do you have cough today?” “Are you going to do heavy work right after donating blood?” .This is very important. The doctor must know this in order for him/her to judge whether you are suitable to donate or not.
So after all those screenings you can now donate your blood.

(The doctor gave me a card, here is the picture of it that was an indication of what type of blood I have)
YEHEEEEEEEY! I can now donate,THIS is IT!
The nurse was there,so when I noticed that she was calling me I immediately walk towards her and gave my card (the doctor instructed me to give the card when it’s my turn). I lay on their stretching bed. Then the volunteer prepared the necessary equipments. As I was just looking at her (she's an angel WOOOOOH! Damn she’s PRETTY!!) But wait I noticed she is leaving me right after preparing the equipments (where are you going angel? Huhuhu) So while I was waiting for my turn,my heartbeat was really fast OHHHH this is not good, I was so nervous that time I didn’t hear the volunteer (the one that will assist for blood transfusion) calling my name ARGHHHH why am I like this. She was replaced by an officer (one of the members Red Cross) .He will be the one to conduct the blood transfusion.
So the officer began injecting the needle into MY PRECIOUS ARMS! HUHUH. That time I was like floating in the air (I feel like I’m a piece of shit). So there it happens,I PANIC and everyone was looking at me, I was shouting “wait! wait! for a moment!”I was like a coward little girl DAMN! Hahaha. The officer told me to be calm because the needle might not strike at my veins correctly if i keep on moving restlessly “Langgas” in Cebuano dialect but I can’t help it I panicked. The volunteer (the pretty girl) was at my side saying “don’t be afraid I’m here, just be calm” when I hear those words and saw her beautiful smile, I didn’t even notice that the officer already injected the needle (What kind of SORCERCY was that?).
That was my first blood donation and more to come, I hope you learned something from my article and feel free to comment anything that can help me improve bad or good I am willing to accept it, I’m still a newbie here at steemit and I really wanted to improve my writing skills I hope you can help me and I would be really glad if ever I can help my fellow steemians too.
This is @brokemancode! posting my first article :)

Haha, too funny. It's ok to be nervous your first time giving blood. Did you see anyone pass out while you were giving blood?
Do you think it was easier than you thought it would be?
I had no idea giving blood has all the benefits you listed!
BTW very nice thing for you to do in donating blood

I didn't see anyone pass out maybe they are laughing because of me instead of passing out? hahaha
It was never easy huhu.
YES! so am I.
Thank you so much @lexikon082 it's one of my bucketlist :) Have you ever donate your blood?

Yes, I've donated blood plenty of times. I use to do it a couple of times a year but I have not done it in quite a few years, but it's something I should start doing again...especially with the health benefits you listed.
I also use to be a Combat Lifesaver in the Army and we had to learn how to give IV's by practicing on each other. I've literally seen people turn green and pass out. It's comical every time. Is that mean of me to find that funny?
Laughter could be the reason why people were not passing out! They say laughter is the best medicine.

I only play sports if it's with the children! If I'm not steeming or trading crypto, I work out in our big yard or spend as much time with my family as I can. I do of course watch Amerian Football when the season is here. Do you play sports?

Very good article. I was about to post a similair post. The blockchain is here to stay. No matter what any crypto will do in the upcoming years. I think that's a conclusion we can make by now. I really advice people to take a look at: https://www.coincheckup.com I'm really happy with this site that gives complete coin analysis for every single crypto.
