Hi there!

Hoping some of you would give me some references to where I can get a quality tutorial on how to get started, literally from having set up an account.

Thank you.

I appreciate the link. I prefer to watch a videos and I will check it out. Thanks!

First thing to do is get familiar with 'markdown'. There are plenty of tutorials online, these will help you to create quality posts. Also, find somewhere you can get free images for commercial use to backup your own images. Examples include pexels.com and pixabay.com.

Other than that... start posting, oh and find a community / people to chat to. We have a steemit chat available for post promotion and general banter but the majority of people seem to use various discord channels.

Any questions just let me know.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I have been watching videos but they all seem to presume one knows something about this social site. What is "Markdown" and where do I find a community to connect with? Thanks again.

Hey Jen,

So, when you click submit a story to post something. The text you type in that box is based on a thing called markdown. For example if you want text to appear bold you have to type ** text ** with out the spaces and it'll appear like so text here appears bold. This link should provide a better explanation http://commonmark.org/help/

Steemit chat can be found here https://steemit.chat/channel/general

Theres a group called minnowsupport who have there own discord chat, they are one community on steemit.

To be honest I'm new myself but I'll try help where I can :)

Thanks!

@jerrybanfield has an excellent site, the Jerry Banfield university, where he has a great course on using Steem.

Thank you!
