I will forever be indebted to @davemccoy,the founder of newbie resteem initiative#newbieresteemday , and I am so happy to have met him when I was a newbie. He has taken me not just as a steemit mate but as a friend,and recently going through his profile, I got to know that he is barely 3 months on steemit and he has achieved a lot.

Saying something nice about #newbieresteemday... it's so difficult to choose something (if I don't, I'll be writing for hours).
But maybe it is time to say something nice about @mudcat36.
I've been working with @davemccoy for a couple of weeks now, and I only recently found out @mudcat36 was actually responsible for the start of the #newbieresteemday initiative, which is changing so many people's lives, and will continue to do that in the future.
Everybody knows Dave, but few people know @mudcat36. Me neither, to be honest. But I'd like to thank him for all the hard work he's doing 'begind the scenes.
@mudcat36, maybe you're not a 'spotlight guy', like Dave is, but I assume it does feel good to get some credit for all this too, every once in a while. For most people, Dave's 'the man' (don't get flattered too much, @davemccoy 😜), but we owe you just as much.

My nice comment goes to Steemit! Steemit has reminded me to do what I love and people will listen. When I first started out here, I didnt know what to write. I wanted people to read my post, enjoy my post and upvote my posts. I was so worried about what other people thought, that I didnt let my fingers do the talking. Instead it was the little voice in my head, telling me that it was bad. It took a bit to get the hang of, but once I started just writing what I felt, things picked up. Im able to share my photographs, which Im by no means professional. I only have my cell phone to take pictures with at the moment but I plan on changing that soon! Most importantly, its introduced me to some awesome people that I otherwise would have never talk to! I get to have a peak into their lives through their writings and get to know them. It lets me know that there are still some great people out there! I love using Steemit as a platform to meet those amazing people! :)

The first 2-3 months of steemit for me really felt like a tough but rewarding experience but since running into @mudcat36 and @davemccoy and seeing how the #newbieresteemday initiative has lead to this point things have been smooth sailing and very enjoyable. Not only has my participation helped to re-connect me with many people that I first crossed paths with in those early months (like @beeyou) but it has also provided me with the confidence and support to start my own initiatives - and I am sure there will be many more to follow because of it!

Steemit just gets more and more exciting every day. When newbies are encouraged from Day 1 as has been @davemmcoy @mudcat36 and @beeyou's vision, (and many others not mentioned here) this community cannot help but go from strength to strength. Successful leaders are willing to pause often enough and slow down for long enough to go at the pace of their followers in order to extend a helping hand and that is tremendously encouraging to see and also to benefit from for myself as well. Strong foundations are being built and great role models are leading the way because they genuinely care. This is what newbies truly value. I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge two awesome teams who have been a tremendous encouragement to me. #teamaustralia and #teamnz They have formed a south pacific AUS/NZ community group on Discord and as I am a kiwi expat living in Australia I am able to connect with both New Zealanders and Australians and keep abreast of events on both side of the Tasman. Today I had a tricky situation arise in steemit and wasn't sure how to handle it. Within minutes of sharing the problem in discord these team members came to my assistance and before long, everything was sorted. I was just so thankful to have their support and glad that I can show my gratitude to them here.

I came across this post late in the game and found it through the post by @steembasicincome. Of course, I could say something nice about that initiative and it is a great one, but it is impossible to single out one great thing/group/person/initiative here on Steemit. There are so many!!
And that is what I love about the platform!! In a world where we see so much negativity, it is refreshing to be surrounded by so much warmth and sharing and wanting to help each other.
It gives me hope for our future!!

i'd like to make a nice comment about @jonpetrich - he is the person who introduced me to steemit, and he is a dear friend of mine. even though he's been icky sick this week, he's worked to find the bright side of things! he's put up a post or two about fighting the grossness, and has taken his "sick time" to put thought into a post schedule.
