Do You Believe in Partnering Up With Others? - (looking for feedback for #newbieresteemday)

in newbieresteemday •  7 years ago

Today was a good catch-up day and I was thrilled to see everyone take initiative and start games and contests to get attention for our project and to help the newbies and minnows feel welcome. I haven't even had the time to scroll through our hashtag #newbieresteemday and get all the stats yet, but I know I've seen the following:

In just the first 3 days:

  1. at least 10 different members gave up their feed to resteem for newbies in the last 3 days
  2. at least 4 different contests/games where members are encouraging the small guys to put out a good post or response and earn SBD funded entirely from their own wallets.
  3. at least 6 different donations of SBD in direct support of these contests and games
  4. a logo contest that has approached $30 upvote and has drawn the interests of more artists with each day (I'm guessing we will have a dozen entrants?)
  5. @mudcat36 and my posts on announcing the program launch have now collectively surpassed the $30 upvote total which all the SBD will be given in some fashion back to the newbies directly.

This doesn't even include all the conversations and activity that is occurring under the radar and not quantifiable. Its a lot and its growing. Which leads me to the question that I'm asking today.

Do You Believe in Partnering Up With Others?

I had an idea that we can also work with already established steemians that already have infrastructure and processes in place. By using their knowledge and experience it will enable us to not only work together, but also get more accomplished as we have many exciting things coming together (stay tuned this is just the warm-ups). ;)

Obviously as we grow our capabilities will also grow, but in the beginning our goal is to enrich the experience primarily for the newbies, yet also secondarily for our members. We are trying to build a community within a community and networking, sharing, playing, and communicating are all facets to building a solid and vibrant core. That is how we get stronger together because we learn, grow, and help each other as we move forward and "grow up". I've seen it first-hand in my first 30 days, and it works.

We have a chance to work with (or partner) with a first candidate if you want. He (@danielsaori) runs a weekly game called Steemit Comment Challenge and he has a good following. He has a weekly prize pool of $20 SBD where he encourages thoughtful comments on a post of the week that he selects. So the game is simple, people go read the post of the week that he selects and you enter your answer in the comment section. Sometimes they are serious posts and sometimes they are just fun. He mixes it up.

Again the goal is to get people to share and make comments and basically interact together. (Note: exactly the advice I give out every day to people about how to get more followers/views on their posts)... Plus they usually earn something on the good answers because their answers get upvotes too.

For an average newbie that spends hours and hours to create a "good post" and then only get a $0.02 upvote, they can sometimes get dejected pretty quickly. (I know, I was there myself 3 weeks ago). By opening up their eyes and promoting the gaming concept they will naturally learn they can do "other" things to make money and get friends to boot. The faster we can put together an ecosystem that supports the newbies, the better their experiences and the more they connect and grow. And games and contest are one such way (as the non-newbies already probably know).

How We Could Help The Newbie (in this case)

My thinking is that if you were interested (as members) in encouraging newbies to join we could ask for "volunteers" to help these newbie in 2 different ways.

#1 tell them about it. If you run across someone with less than a 40 reputation chances are they are either new or need help figuring out how to "engage" more into the system. You can tell them about it in a post of your own where you tell your followers about the game (and note you can even earn money by doing a good thing). Or you can just do it one on one when you see someone or it comes up in conversation. But basically the goal is to get them there.

#2 go to the game site and support the newbies that make a genuine effort with your upvote. And if you also feel so compelled, making the effort to comment on their post too. Everyone likes to hear they did a good job, so this would basically be a cheerleader function.

As with resteeming, this isn't going to be a perfect "fit" for everyone (there are many many ways to contribute so no worries we WILL have at least one plan that suits you). Some people like to save their upvotes for other purposes and that is perfectly valid. Others want to help newbies by promoting them to do better content, and that is cool too. So this isn't something that you do because you feel obligated to, this would be something you would do because you like doing it and support the cause of getting the newbies more immersed.

How We Could Add Incentive To The Newbie's That Participate

If the newbie (40 Reputation score or lower) enters the contest at #steemitcommentchallenge and puts our hashtag #newbieresteemday at the end of their comment, then the newbie would have a chance of winning the normal prize of $20 SBD total from @danielsaori. But they would also get a bonus too...

We could offer another prize of $0.25 SBD for the TOP 10 newbies that enter our hashtag inside the comment box. (Note: I will contribute the total of $2.50 from either the money I will get from my posts about this project if approved by mudcat36 or I will donate it personally). Also if anyone else want to contribute we could either give the $0.25 SBD to more people or increase the amount for the top 10. I'd take suggestions as the argument for both ways is good.

Also we could guarantee an upvote on their comment reaching at least $0.05 by some of our more altruistic members using their upvotes to make a newbies day or just having at least 5 (of the little guys like me using my $0.01). Remember many of these newbies spend hours trying to do something that yields them $0.01 or $0.04 and they would be guaranteed something more than they usually get just because we pay attention to them.

So if we partner with an established player we get to use his infrastructure and following and experience. But by using our power of connecting with the newbies and encouraging their participation, we could deepen their involvement and improve their satisfaction levels.

On top of all this, it would give our awesome community members that have already jumped on board here with such drive and passion, ideas of how to also do our own games and contests too. I have already seen the creativity and enthusiasm that our member possess, and if we create templates of ways we can work together then it keep us tighter knit and working to make everyone successful.

Are you in? Would you like to do either #1 tell them about it or #2 go to the game site and support the newbies that make a genuine effort with your upvote.

Be honest too. I think it is a good win win win, but I am just one person, it needs to be something that you really like.

So let me know your thoughts in the comment section. And of course if you are in, tell me in which way you see yourself contributing.

Thank you for your attention and I look forward to seeing your responses.

As always, be humble and...

I particularly loved the #newbieresteemday challenge that @mudcat36 had started (after reading a post from @davemccoy). Though my followers are not as many as the others, but managed to help some newbie and resteemed their post.

13 newbies buzzed me at my first #newbieresteemday post challenge.
@bigmike420
@roldamn
@tomset
@leebaong
@beeyou
@the.artist-98
@paganlord
@vryhof
@culgin
@effey
@jysui
@memebibiboboo
@markaparre

Some of the newbies with few followers also want to take part in this initiative to help others too. Giving a special shout out to @ilovepoorpeople

Feedback:
1. Because this is not an upvote challenge, hope that other steemit members with huge followers find time to participate in this too.

2. My work is crazy, hahahaha... having time to find time to do this is a challenge to me.

3. I will 'partner' with anyone who is there to help newbies (hate to call them minnow) and to help me to grow in steemit.

4. Will continue #newbieresteemday in coming weeks... unless @davemccoy has other creative challenge again hahahahah...

While I am not familiar with this tag (yet), I am constantly cruising around steemit looking at posts, commenting and chatting with new steemians. I do this 10-12 hours a day; as steemit has been my career for the last six months. (I joined mid-July 2017).
When I read this statement...

Do You Believe in Partnering Up With Others?
I had an idea that we can also work with already established steemians that already have infrastructure and processes in place. By using their knowledge and experience it will enable us to not only work together, but also get more accomplished as we have many exciting things coming together

I had to comment. I just wasn't sure where to begin

In regards to partnering up? ABSOLUTELY!
WHen I joined certain Discord groups my steemit career took a HUGE positive turn. I made the right connections, I advanced and have made a name for myself in certain communities.

In just the last two months, I have:

  • Become the writer & staff member for @qurator
  • Been delegated 10k SP from a whale- I am a Stewards of Gondor recipient
  • Hold weekly, sometimes daily, contests to share the delegation I was awarded and given
  • I am a mentor in certain Discord groups and help incoming new members with formatting, posts and how to succeed

In the mentor program I am involved in... it is the best reward knowing and watching the people you partnered up with have their own steemit page and posts blossom and grow.

I applaud your dedication, persistence and determination on helping new members advance. All these contests, giveaways, etc of sbd and steem may NOT seem like much, but they do help. I advise all red fish, plankton and minnows (yes, I am still a minnow even with all my accomplishments) to get involved. Help others. Share and strive to go one step further tomorrow. It does pay off. All that hard work and, even, frustration do pay off.

Awesome... its a deal.. we are now partners! (you can't back out now, you said "absolutely") lol

Its awesome that you are doing this 10-12 hrs a day, that shows more than commitment, it shows that you love it too. I'm still very new to this (today is the first day of my second month). I've had so much fun and learned more than I could've imagined just 31 days ago.

I read briefly through your page and I joined Qurator less than a week ago, so while I certainly have many things going through my head, I have a decent concept of what roll you play and what your mission is. I think it is amazing some of the programs that are developing here and I love how everyone wants to help everyone else out.

As far as the mission that I am supporting with @mudcat36 (and many others) the basic principle is that we want to help the newbies in the beginning to develop a little faster and get stronger sooner. As a fellow newbie myself, I just went through the learning curve and experienced firsthand both the pluses and the minuses. So the goal is to bring the experiences that we have had and use them to educate, motivate, encourage, and connect with the newbies that join our system. I have learned that steemit is designed to be a "virtuous loop" and in order to succeed, you need your friends and followers to succeed too. So when I saw @mudcat36's original post (referred to me by @plushzilla), I jumped at the chance to bring the small but strong network of friends that I had already connected with and put some muscle to his plan. It has only been 4 days, but its has exceeded even my fairly high expectations.

The talent and the energy is really amazing and I encourage you to go through our feed to see all the different things already happening (from literally a "cold start" 4 days ago). People are making logos, having contests, the newbies are embracing the concept, and amazingly many quality people are taking the time to use their feeds and resteem others to help them get some more eyeballs (and to offer suggestions on how to improve). Its something to watch for sure.

I also want you let you know that the introductory post is a great place to see both the launch and even more importantly the reactions from the people in the comments. We have almost 200 comments and if you want to gauge the appetite and see what we are doing, that would be what I would most recommend you reading.

As far as partnering, I'm a very creative person who can come up with some out of the box ways to get things done. I would love to do anything that supports the goals of improving the newbie experience and of course contributes back to your efforts too. Sometimes it might just be a piggy back on something you are doing (or vice versa), but other times it could be a joint effort or program that we support together. I am not sure what you need as you are so much more developed that us at this time, but if you tell me then I will find a way to support your needs with our cause too. Needless to say, I'm a big proponent of win win win.

So if you are still reading this rather long winded message, then I hope I still have your interest. If so and you have any questions, please let me know. If you would like to know more about how I think or watch the progression of my life here, I also welcome you to browse through my blog as I have chronicled my thoughts as they have progressed.

Its very nice to meet you and I'm so excited you @goldendawne and it awesome that you sent me this message. I would love to work with you and along side you and make this place "even better" than it already is.

Thank you for connecting and can't wait to hear from you again!

ps... this long comment is partly due to the bandwidth issue at steemit. I would have made it a little shorter if I could've gone out and made some new friends. lol :)

thank you very much @resteemable as always I appreciate it. You guys are the best and let me know if you have ideas on how we can steer more traffic your way.

i'm in on both

You have been resteemed as part of #newbieresteemday ... I made today my #newbieresteemday, and invite you and others to do the same. To learn more: Come Join Us!!! (Newbie Resteem Initiative)

Yes i bealive in partnership and tram work 😊😊😊😊

Awesome @indrajeet... I love the enthusiasm too :) ... keep your eyes open to the contest and lets all have a little fun and bring some of your friends along.

Sure

Yes i do believe in partnership with other. We are here in a community and it is normal to hell the newbie. For example, I am a newbie, I made my account only yesterday and it is indeed hard to get attention here since a lot of steemians are already pretty famous. Whatever, have a nice day and good luck in here!

Its is nice to meet you @pikitch... I'm glad you made a comment so that I could get to know you. We will help you get noticed and help you to make new connections. It is just your first day, but I promise if you want to learn many here will help you. I include myself too.

I have sent out 2 things I'm doing today that will be a good thing for you to experience. You should do them and see what I mean. Here is the link to explain:

https://steemit.com/newbieresteemday/@davemccoy/action-alert-newbie-bonus-you-can-win-money-in-less-than-5-minutes

I will also look for you and your answers in the comment section and that will remind me to go through your profile and get to know you better. So don't forget to do that and I will help guide you. Do we have a deal? :)

thank you for your help

This is very nice.since i am already at the higher limit of being a newbie,i would like to keep this platform moving.
I would like to contribute in both ways..I have already started number 1.
Also want to use this medium to thank you @davemccoy, you really are interested in my progress.Am glad to declare You has my favourite steemian.
Keep up the good work!!!

This is really great @davemccoy. I am a newbie and I'll be joining this challenge. Thank you for redirecting me there as well. This is huge. You've been a great help to me since I joined steemit.

Awesome, that's exactly what I'm trying to encourage. The more we interact, the more we become connected. This is just one more thing that we can do together to show the newbies how to succeed by "engaging". I look forward to you letting me know if you liked it after its done. And I'm so glad I can help you I also know its all of us that are actually motivating each other.

Keep your eyes open for the game, I think it will be in 2 or 3 days. And bring some friends and some of you newbie classmates, the more we can educate, the better we all are. You'll understand soon how that works.

It seam's to be going good with all your good idea's and you are still coming up with way's to help. Love it!

I'm trying to... every day is a new learning experience and I'm finding new things we can do all the time.

ahhah yup my classmate i believe in partnership work in my daily life but not on steemit but your post is really good i like ur thoughts and respect your work keep in touch

lol ... well I'm glad in your daily life you believe in partnership Annie, that will be good for you as you keep moving forward and up with your work. I wonder why you don't believe in partnership working on steemit, could you tell me why you think it isn't good here?

And I respect your thoughts very much too and I'm glad we are keeping in touch.

I believe. I'm having fun with my day on #newbieresteemday so far! Thanks for the opportunity Dave.

How are you doing with it Tom? Have many found you and asked you for your resteems? Btw, I think there are a few on this thread from @annmighty (like 5 or 6)

https://steemit.com/newbieresteemday/@davemccoy/updating-and-catching-up-if-i-missed-your-comment-or-post-please-let-me-know

If you don't mind chasing them down and helping her, I would appreciate it... Also if you could kick them also to @ilovepoorpeople, he will resteem them too. You're doing good to do this and I thank you so much for joining in.

Let me know how it goes so we can refine the process and improve the effectiveness for all.

thanks

I've gotten 22 so far today. I've got time for some more, I'll chase Anna down.

@carolfung is also resteeming them today. We've talked a little... This has been a lot of fun for me, I actually have a purpose reading people's good stuff. @ilovepoorpeople and I have touched slightly, too. I'll give you a sitrep report tomorrow. How's that?

Thanks for the opportunity Dave. I really do appreciate it.

That's perfect.. awesome to see you all connecting too.. We can learn from each other that way... Also I have an idea about getting another role within the organization a "re-steemer" for the "re-steemers"... that way we will always have an idea of who is resteeming as that function would like a point guard telling people who they could send their links to... Just an idea and throwing it out... In a couple of days as everyone has had some time to digest, we should share thoughts... But I would love the have a sitrep report, it will give us a template for more sitreps :)

Thank you so much Tom

yes, I believe that no one can stand alone at the start so, we need partnership to grow.

I knew you would agree sweetcha :) ... You're awesome!

I need this as do many others. I had a terrible experience last night that almost caused me to ban Steemit in my household! Read this post please! https://steemit.com/steemit/@terminallyill/newcomers-are-you-tired-of-being-limited-in-growth-by-the-more-established-members-tires-of-not-being-able-to-grow-according-to

I read what you wrote and I completely understand your feelings. I have had 2 downvotes and I successfully explained my situation to the first lady and she removed them realizing that I just made an honest mistake. The second one was recently and I am reaching out to ask why so that I don't make the same mistake.

As far as how you handle it in the future, obviously everyone has their own ways of dealing with problems. If it were me, I always try to do it be best way I know how and if I do my best, then I don't let anyone bother me. I wake up every day with this saying, be honest and be humble; and then I know I have nothing to fear or worry about.

Of course, everyone wants to be liked and get along, but sometimes people either misread something you said or they just don't like it. I have learned to move on and not let them bother me. Its like, "say your peace, and move on" slogan.

As far as how the system is structured, I also see your points. For me, I have had good interactions with the people at the top. But I can imagine if I got on the wrong side of them that it could be painful. So the way I look at it is to focus on the pond that I swim in and see how it all works out. I'm not going to engage in fighting anyone here big or small. Even if I see someone who does something wrong, then I either try to help him see how he could do it right, or if he won't listen, then I move on.

I once had a guy tell me (7 days into this) to remove my post about "trying to help newbies" from the introduceyourself tag or he would downvote the f'ck out of me until I left this place. I will never forget the name because what a rude and disgusting thing to say. I have always tried to help people both here and in my life. To tell a newbie that is 7 days in that he was going to run me out for using a wrong tag is deplorable. But I moved on. And to me he will get what he deserves in his own life. I am not the judge and frankly he is not worth my time.

So my suggestion to you is that you should decide if you like it here or not. Don't do it to be the person on the top. If you do the right things and always try your best, then I think you will have fun here and may actually make some money too. Yes, I wish the big players would give us a little more "positive" attention, but who am I to say what the grand plan is here anyway. I only have 30 days here worth of experience, and from what I've seen they have done a great job in putting together a platform that encourages others to work together. Maybe the person you are fighting with just had a bad day. Or maybe he is just a bad guy, I don't know. But I do know that you can control yourself and how you view it, and I hope that you can come here to find people like me that you enjoy and you find this place fun.

Sorry for the long reply, but I do understand what you are going though. And I hate to see you leave over this what will be a "small" incident in the future.

Cheers and stay in touch with me if you decide to stay. I think you are a hard-thinker which is a good thing (I am too)...

Well, I decided to stay, only to check my stuff and see that this one guy @spotlight and his friend @gktown are both going through here downvoting every single post i have, making it impossible to earn on my account. Things like this, are going to drive me and hundreds away from this platform. I do not know what to do, and nobody will help me. It pisses me off, because i have invested my own money into this, and got my daughter involved, and now she is heart broken......it's stupid, honestly. I have nowhere to go and no way to do anything about it.....

One I'm glad you decided to stay. Two if I get involved, I don't know if I could help. Three I will approach them and find out what they are upset about.

Many times though I find myself in this he said/she said situation. I'm sure they had a reason without knowing it, so if you would be willing to listen to what they had a problem with and agree to not do it, then I will approach them and see what I can do.

But I wouldn't want to jump in and have it be a "he said/she said situation"... If they feel you didn't something wrong, like blasting that message out and trying to "get them" back, would you be willing to admit you blew a gasket and apologize for that?

Again I am just trying to help if you want me to help. I don't think everyone has to be friends, but I think everyone should try to respect the others opinion and agree to disagree and move forward. And that would go both ways too.

So do you want me to try and see what I can do?

I've explained to him how he can best navigate this situation.

I've asked @terminallyill to stop reposting.

He's agreed to stop reposting.

I've agreed to stop downvoting.

If I see evidence that he is no longer reposting, I'll remove some flags.

If he keeps talking about how I should "know my place", maybe I'll leave them up.

Excellent @gktown that seems fair and I'm sure @terminallyill will abide by those rules and it is good that you will remove the flags.

@terminallyill, I hope you understand that there is no need to bring this issue up anymore. Just understand what @gktown's issue was, respect that it is valid and not personal to you, and just don't "re-post" again and he will remove some of the flags to get you going on the right foot again.

Sometimes things blow out in the moment, but if you just step back and realize he has one issue that he is asking you to respect (re-posting) then this is resolved. You can move forward and enjoy your time here again. Also one day you will see that it is such a small event considering the awesome opportunity you have in the future.
I hope you see it, get it out of your head and lets move forward in a positive manner!

Thanks to you both @gktown and @terminallyill...

see both my replies below and also @gktown. What he is asking for is reasonable, so let's move forward. I'm glad you brought it to my attention and I look forward to helping you make up for lost time ;)

This would be an acceptable thing, IF him and his friends would stop dropping in on my posts to say ignorant things that are not productive, initiating conflict, again, and then proceeding to start flagging everything, again. I literally posted once today, and it was original content, it wasnt reposted, stolen, anything. I did my part, i eventually ignored these guys, shit calmed down. I go out for a bit, i come back on, no doubt EVERY single post, original with 1 post or a duplicate post, ALL are flagged, and all three of these guys are talking shit and keeping it going. Seriously, me and several others agree they need to grow up. I followed the rules, if they would leave me the hell alone, there'd be no more issue. They create it, because they are childish.

Personally I want to move forward, but having these guys shame flag me just because they want to bully newcomers, is completely uncalled for. I'm done asking them to stop. If they refuse to, I'll have to take matters into different directions

Here is where you should stop. They have already said they will not only stop, but they will reverse some of the damage they did already. You got what you want, you can move forward in peace.

I would edit my comments (if I was in your position) to only reflect that you are happy to move forward in peace and LEAVE IT AT THAT. You do not have to mention what will happen otherwise, because they already agreed. This isn't a game where anyone likes conflict or drama. It is a place that people like me come to have fun.

I want you to be in my circle of friends and we can have fun together. But that won't happen if you try to battle them. Life isn't always fair and you can't force your will on anyone else. So why bother to issue veiled threats? I suggest you just edit your replies to something like this:

"I'm glad it got worked out. I won't re-post anything again. And I accept that this matter is closed and they will remove some of my flags. I want to have fun here at steemit and we can all go forward peacefully"

If you say that then you are not "giving in" or "backing down"... You are simply acknowledging what bothered them as they have already agreed to fix what bothered you.

Its over if you want it to be. And I can't help you any more than this if you keep going. The problem is resolved, but you have to do your part which is to simply move forward.

(do you really think this will matter in 5 years? Put it in perspective and let's have some fun)

Calm, diplomatic advice, my bro. I logged on today to see your Steem number at 15. I was shocked. I don't know you, but you appear to be an articulate, decent bloke. Mistakes have been made. Things have got out of hand. It appears you are very, very frustrated. I replied on one of your earlier posts my disbelief. Baby steps backwards from all out war is beneficial to both parties.
In time hopefully a compromise will be beneficial to both parties. We can continue reading your muses, they can have a very worthwhile contributor to the community.
I dunno. I'm.new to this too. I don't know about this resteem stuff. Probably why I get like 5c per post and thats from mates. Ha ha. But yeh. Hopefully, your number can be put back up to where it should be and this whole sorry episode can be resolved.
Good on you though. You're a good bloke.

thank you very much for taking the time to write that and I agree with you about de-escalating things. You are a good bloke too :)

This is great @davemccoy! I really admire the movement and because of that I want to join. Just tell me what I can do. I also have friends that are currently new in steemit.

At this point I would suggest you play yourself so that you understand how it works (you can then be able to explain the purpose after you go through it).. and for you since you don't have much voting power (you can use what you want), the most important thing would be to get those newbies to enter and learn a different aspect of how this works.

After that, the next most important thing is to make comments (particularly on newbies if you think they answered it well)... All people might not admit it, but everyone like to hear that they did something right. You can give someone confidence and that is a good thing indeed.

I knew you'd be a founding member, I never really doubted that. It takes time to understand how things fit together, but I knew you'd pay attention long enough to "get it".

So 1) get your friends to sign up when it comes out (as many as possible) and tell them to spread the word... and 2) enter it yourself and see how you do.

And we have many more things coming, this is just another piece of a million piece puzzle.

Very good initiative, I've been on the platform a little over a week, and there indeed so many specifics to finding your way around here, that I can Imagine very many new members will give up... So great to have people helping us little guys...

If any one is looking to support an Artist who recently joined Steem, here's a samplemof my work 👨🏼‍🎨

wow that is very good..... I look forward to working with you and think your work is amazing.. I was looking at it last night. I hope I can help you and I also hope you can join us. You are going to be a very successful one here

Thank you for the support and vote of confidence, I will gladly join and hope to add value to the team 🖖🏽

IMG_7473.JPG

wow very cool.. And I'm sure you will... No doubt in my mind. Welcome aboard!

Hi @davemccoy, I am back here again to tell you that this is a good initiative and I hope you and @mudcat36 continue to work on #newbieresteemday

You have my full support!

I'm glad you are back and I welcome you to come here and comment as often as you like... I think its terrific that you jumped in to help resteem your fellow newbies, that's hopefully a good way meet them for you too. I hope you use the service too... if you have a post then send it to the resteemers on duty and have them give you a hand too... we want you to grow and are here to help make it happen...

Also lots of good things coming... so keep enjoying yourself and thank you so much again!

I have followed @danielsaori His profile photo is Doraemon! Love it! So you got the right person haha

On a more serious note, I will of course join this either as a cheerer or participant. Would also like to give a chance to the newer noobs :) so i have to recharge for now to be a cheerer upvoter :)

You can do both... If you win the contest then you help us all by you getting bigger faster... and if you just show up, then you light up the place with your wit and charm :)

ps... have you joined steemgigs yet on discord https://discord.gg/bhzD3T they give you free 0.01 to 0.02 upvote in their post production section... I think it would be a good article, but I haven't really done much on it yet. Just asking in case you want to run it down, I know you like cool new things to do when you go to work and want to goof off ;)

Haha thanks I'll watch out for his contest.

I'm on discord and have tried their #postpromotion channel. I also tried other Philippine channels like Steemit Philippines. Although I seldomly get a reply in their general chat so I'm not always there anymore.

do you put the $vote (then link) if so, mine gets a 0.01 or 0.02 every time. maybe you didn't do the $vote ... the reason I ask is that you might want to tell your smaller friends about it. I know you're posts don't need it, but you have lots of people that the 0.01 or 0.02 will make them feel a little better.

And since you are so good at the social channels, when we get our own storefront in discord, you can be the hostess of general chat and make all kinds of friends with that wit and charm ... ;)

A channel for our community would be awesome! I'm applying for mod/hostess or whatever they call it :)

Yes I did the $vote and got an upvote. I sometimes do that for posts of other minnows that don't get much votes when I'm there. Although I can only post per number of minutes I think. The reply I was talking about was from real people hehe there seems to be no one present at the chat and it's silent when I join. :D

yes I think it is new so its like a brand new shopping mall with very few shoppers walking through and looking at the merchandise.. Don't worry though, just because we are early that doesn't mean it won't be filled at some point.

And I'm doing roles right now of how people can help with #newbieresteemday and one of the roles will be mod/hostess on our channel and your application will be accepted for sure ;)

That's a good way to help out some of the newbies by using the @steemgigs site. I don't know if you want to do a post on how to do that, but I think it would be a great thing to teach both the newbies and the members how to use it.. The url to get started is https://discord.gg/fYUu4Y ... just a thought, if you want to tackle that post ;) (and let me know if you do so I can get the word out)

Hmmm I will have to think about because I'm not so good in writing instructional posts like you do :D I will let you know if I do. Or you can too coz I know it will reach more newbies if it's from you. And for now, I'm writing travel blogs in advance for what I will post for a week because it's now getting more difficult to keep up with Steemit and work.

You know I'm in and I personally would do either one! @plushzilla has reached out to me and I think its awesome how you are putting the "pieces" together!!! Love the ideas keep them coming!

I knew the $0.05 was in the bag because you were growing so fast you could do that by your own in a week... lol ... and yes I knew you'd be in ;) ... I think you and @plushzilla will be a great team and you both have the brains and drive to make some magic happen!!!

ps on the ideas, there is so much more... we are barely scratching the surface ;)

SitRep Newbie Resteem Day

Hey Dave. I promised a report so here goes.

I think it went amazingly well. We had at least 3 people on it Thursday so I think we got everybody that had the tag, and even a few that didn't.

ilovepoorpeople and carolfung did really well. I know between us we doubled a few posts a while apart, probably a really good thing. Near as I can count I got 26.

I suspect if this is going to go very far forward (and I sincerely hope it does) that it would be in your best interest (and mudcat) to have a designated 'day person' that would be 'coordinator for a day'. Judging by reactions I saw in comments there will be a readily available pool of volunteers. It was a very fullfilling day for me.

One other thing I would suggest: To have a generic post ready to be personalized by the people doing the resteeming. With the links and pertinent info needed to complete the job. I'd have posted it probably 3 times yesterday.

All in all a really good project that I am ready to be a part of anytime

Awesome... love the sitrep... thank you. The feedback is awesome. I think in fact that your comments above would make a great post explaining "what you learned by being a "re-steemer" for a day". You could briefly explain what a "re-steemer" is, how to do it right, why you did it, what you learned, and whether you plan on doing it again. I think it would be an interesting and informative post to those who don't really understand it yet.

Its just an idea, of course don't feel obligated to do it or anything (you sitrep is perfect and is helping me to refine the next phase which is explaining the different ways people can help)

Good job and thank you again... And if you do that post, please find me and let me know its out.

I think I can do that. In fact, really good idea. I've had an idea for a second post some days that isn't related to motorcycles and that would be a great start. Thanks again Dave for letting me play.

Hey Dave, I can say from experience that being a newbie on the platform can be discouraging. I was lucky to have a good friend on the platform and he introduced me to some of his friends and that's how I managed to get a bit of boost.
Meanwhile, I noticed there is an entire system of bots and so on. I get a part of it is practicality, but at this point, I feel that the direction this is going is moving away from the initial idea of community and real curation.
So, I think initiatives like yours are more than welcome and I hope it will grow.
I'll take my chance on the next comment contest, and I am looking forward to see more from you.

All the best :)

It is very nice to meet you @aiuli :) ... I always love to meet someone new that takes the time to write me a genuine comment so I can learn about them and make that connection. I appreciate your comments and I am looking forward to seeing more from you too.

About the bots, there is both good and bad things happening with them. My goal will be to teach people how they work over time and learn to use the "good" aspects that can happen and steer clear of the "bad" things that people do. In the end, I think the good will triumph over the bad, so I wouldn't worry too much. This system is designed to be a "virtuous loop" and it will eventually find its balance just as water always seeks its own level.

Nice to meet you and I love your bright and nice photo in your profile. It cheers me up just to look at it!

Stay in touch and make sure you enter that contest, I want to see your answer ;)

I am also a newbie with below 40 reputation. I am not good in writing a blog (not good in English) and up to now I am still learning it by reading others blog. I like to give comments to a post that has a good content. Do you think it can help increasing my reputation just by giving comments?

For the #steemitcommentchallenge, I can help both ways for this.

Yes you will increase your reputation. That is exactly the point you will learn. You don't ever have to make a post (unless you like to) and you can still earn respect, make friends, earn money, and build your reputation. I would say that I have earned 10x the money I have made from my comments and not from my posts.

I highly recommend you build your skills at commenting (sincere and thoughtful and pertinent)... And if you are funny and sympathetic when they apply, then that is good too. There is so much amazing things out there, you just need to venture into other people's posts and strike up a converstation.

And I'm glad you're in both ways. And I'm excited for you to see how this works out. There is a whole ecosystem out there than you can repeat over and over and have fun doing it too.

I'm happy you asked that question because one day I want to use you as an example of how to succeed!

This post has received gratitude of 1.79 % from @appreciator thanks to: @davemccoy.

Sneaky Ninja Attack! You have been defended with a 2.97% vote... I was summoned by @davemccoy! I have done their bidding and now I will vanish...Whoosh

As a newbie, I thank you for your consideration and for this generous initiative. I wait everything to go well. Regards

awesome... I hope you play... we should be putting out the information in 2 or 3 days

I would, but as I need to give up my feed, does it meant i need to give up my post?
I dont think I can do that, hahaha
As I dont see myself as someone that been here in steemit that long, only a month.
So, yea....
count me out, maybe next time.

Erza, Erza, oh how can I convince thee.. lol

I don't want you to give up your feed and lose your posts... never ever would I want that from you.

I always appreciate your honesty and your personality.. I think you would be awesome to chat with in person one day. I'm going to miss you if you decide to leave this place, but I understand that you are a very busy student that has lots of friends and things that keep you occupied. Its nice to be young :)

If you decide you need to take a break, then make sure you keep your password and your master key so you can get back in some day. One day you will say to yourself, I wonder how "Dave" is doing and then you will want to see. If you don't have your password or master key you will have to start a whole new account.. And maybe just maybe I won't remember who you are... I only remember "midnighterze" as my fun a friendly person who I have to laugh with... So take my advice and do that.

And I will count you out, even though for you it was not to give up your feed, it was to enter a contest and get money. But if you don't want to do that, then I getcha... I don't ever want to ask you to do something that you don't want to do.

Please stop by and tell me good-bye if you leave, like I said I'm gonna miss your unique brand of humor and honesty. (ps that's a compliment) ;)

ooo... looks like there's miscommunication?
hahaha, I will still post my blog and all, but I dont think I can take part on this event for few reason.

I'm glad you will keep posting your blog Erza... that means I can still see you around here :) ... I hope you have a terrific weekend
