We are the Steampunk Capital of the World!
This is one of my favourite Steampunk Sculptures in Oamaru and it’s made from various car parts which is very fitting since it’s located at the North Otago Motor Group. Here are a few more photos of this great beast.

I think it’s quite a fitting subject to blog about on the Steemit network considering the name Steampunk.

If you ever come to little old Oamaru one day I reckon you would love it. There are sculptures all over the place in the streets and I think you’d love the Victorian Precinct. Oamaru is like an artist magnet. It’s just crazy how many artists come here to visit and never leave. There’s quite a lot of art galleries for such a small population of almost 14000 people and those artists who cannot afford their own galleries share spaces with other artists. If you ever come to New Zealand be sure to come to Oamaru. I believe you would find it the most interesting place in NZ. And so close to nature as the very popular Waitaki Valley is just up the road.

The council have been thinking of banning cars which i think they should do to restore more of the ambience of the place.
And here’s The Steampunk Train Sculpture outside Steampunk Headquarters
You put a $2 coin in the train and it makes noises and fire and steam come out of the top and sides. There are always tourists taking photos of it.

If you do plan on coming over then please let me know. I’ll give you some recommendations on places to visit. Tourism has taken off in Oamaru Thanks to our great artists and sculptors and there’s even some successful musicians who started out here. I think the South Island is the best place for scenery too
