What a beautiful Easter! <3

in newbieresteemday •  7 years ago

When I first joined Steemit, I told you guys how much family means to me. They are my world! I love that no matter the time apart, we all get back together and its pure joy. This Easter was no exception! The weather was beautiful, a nice Spring breeze blew through the air, with the sun shining bright. Just a small 30 minute drive to my dads house and we were set for some fun!

My little basket case! She gets it from her momma! ;)

When we made it there, Grandma Diane had the kids each two baskets full of candy and treats. She was soo happy, as you can tell by the look!

After we were through scrounging through each basket, we ventured outside. The Easter bunny hid the eggs all through the patches of clovers, which made for some great pictures. Gotta love that dark green! The hunt was on!

Sophia and cousin JJ. I think he was tired of the pictures, I could only get this look from him! LOL

Heres sweet cousin Melanie! Isnt she so pretty?! I couldnt get her to look at me either, she was infatuated with the eggs! No time for Auntie!

After the hunt was done, and all eggs were accounted for, it was bubbles time! The kids love bubble time, I mean who doesnt?! JJ enjoyed blowing them and Sophie loved chasing them and popping them! It was soo darn cute watching them play. They would just crack up!

By the end of the day, we were pooped! Easter was a huge success, happy kiddos, happy parents and happy grand parents! Happy family! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Now to get ready for vacation! We are leaving in about a week and I got lots to prep for! Ever taken a 1400 mile road trip with a 3 year old?! Should be fun! LOL

Until next time Steemians,
Peace, Love and Family! <3

Wow, you are a brave soul considering a 1400 mile road trip with a 3 year old. Hope that goes well for you and you have lots of breaks planned as that is a long time to strap in a toddler.

LOL! It sounded better that flying. Plus we will be there for 2 weeks and thinking of what all we need to bring and extra luggage costs made my head hurt! We, my husband and I, have made the trip before with Sophie when she was 3 months. Im hoping she does good. We do stop every couple hours to get out, go potty, get some movement in the legs! She loves car rides, just hoping she loves looooong car rides! lol

Flying isn't to bad with a little one. Have done it a few times and for the most part it's easier then driving. 2 weeks is a while to be anywhere and yeah the airlines have learned how to screw people....I mean charge people for every last thing. Having taken trips with kids of all ages the 3 month old is easy compared to any other ago IMO. They are still sleeping for long stretches and not used to moving around much. Be prepared with some things to keep her entertained.

One trick you might like. Wrap up something that can be opened about half way between each stop. A small little toy, like a happy meal type toy. Crayon and small pad of paper. Even toys you already own are ok, she won't know the difference.

The key is to do it once she is getting bored. The fun of opening something distracts them for a bit. We would say 5 minutes until you get to open a present, make them wait and learn to be patient. Then wait 3-8 minutes...they can't tell time so cut it off before she starts to act up but try and stretch it a little. Praise the good behavior and then give the present to open. She will be occupied for a little while with it and your trip will go smoother.

I like to look on facebook garage sale groups for someone selling small items or hit the dollar store. Anything that I don't mind getting lost or tossing once the trip is done.

Hope you have a great trip.

Thanks for the tip! Thats a great one, I will definitely try that out.

I actually freak out a little on planes, Im super scared of heights and just the thought of being up there in a confined area with Sophie, my mind goes straight to all the bad scenarios rolling through my head. Ive actually only flown 4 times in my life and was terrified the entire time, every time! I know, Im a wuss when it comes to heights!

We will definitely have her tablet for her games, and my tablet that you can watch movies on, coloring pages and crayons, she loves playdoh and can play with it for hours. It takes about 20 hours to get there and plan on stopping at least one night at a hotel and will do two if need be. Thats the good thing, we arent on a strict timeline.

Thanks again for the awesome tip. Kiddos love to open presents even if theyre small!

I hate heights, but planes don't bother me. Hate flying, but it's because I'm 6'3" and my knees touch the chair in front of me before the person leans back and I feel like I'm stuffed into a sardine can. Maybe my fear is more of falling then the actual height. Like I couldn't leave the path at the grand cannon while everyone else went close to get a cool photo I stayed 10 feet from the edge and it freaked the crap out of me that everyone else was so close.

Yes they do love opening presents. My kids were hysterical when they were younger. They would be getting bored in the car and take a napkin to wrap their toy and then give it to each other as presents to open. Then they each got a new toy to play for a while. They would then wrap then up and give them back.

It really is a fantastic idea!

I would love to see the Grand Canyon one day, but Im scared of that too! lol Ill do it because hell, you got to! Im also scared of the falling, that may actually be the bottom line of my fear now that you point it out! The last time we made this trip, which is from Texas to California by the way, we also went to visit a friend in Utah. We went through these crazy mountain areas with the road being cut out in between these HUGE mountains. It was insane! And a tad bit terrifying for me! My mind just didnt comprehend how big those mountains were until we were smack dab in between them at the very bottom on a two lane road with semis driving by us! My mind went blank, couldnt speak and could barely snap a few pictures, none of which were when we were actually sandwiched between the mountains. This is last one I got before I went completely still!

Driving in the mountains there is so much beauty all around you. Just remember those rocks have been sitting there since before man walked this earth, they aren't going to just fall and crush you. Nothing to fear about the mountain around you. Enjoy the views they give you!

Years ago I decided that my fear wouldn't control me and went skydiving with a huge group of friends. I froze at the door when it was time to jump out, everyone said I looked like I was going to either pass out or puke. Then after taking a deep breath I let go and started our fall.

It was one of the scariest moments of my life, yet it was thrilling. I have told my kids that I will take them for their 18th birthday if they are interested. My oldest also has the same fear of heights and is like I was before jumping. After that I can climb a ladder when needed and am ok with a little height. Wouldn't say it cured me by any means, but I am at least not petrified like before.

If you ever have the opportunity to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, go for it! You won't regret the experience and it may help you put your fears in perspective.

Thats a bucket list item for sure! One day... even though I froze just from writing it! lol

Hell I cant even ride roller coasters! But I would definitely like to face that fear and one day I will. Not today, but one day! :D

The mountains were so beautiful! Being from central Texas where its flat as anything except for the random hill, it was quite different to say the least. Driving through it just kinda puts things into perspective. Makes you realize just how little you are in the grand scheme of things. Little ants we are!

Looks like you had a great holiday! We spent Easter Sunday with family as well. We have to drive about 50 minutes to my aunt's for the day. There was about 45 people there altogether, between our extended family and my uncle's family. That meant about 10 kids to hunt the eggs! After that the trampoline and go-kart both got a lot of use. I think bubbles would have been a bit more low-key though...maybe have to bring some next year!

Luckily for us, the Easter Bunny remembered the wonderful bubbles! LOL SO glad you had a good holiday, gotta love when the family gets together! I bet it was a lot of fun to watch 10 kiddos go at it. Thanks for stopping by!

Such a beautiful family.

Thank you! :)

Your little basket case is so cute, your family times make me wanna have family times. I mean its so refreshing seeing so much smiles

Thank you! It really is refreshing. Reminds you to slow down in life and enjoy each and everyday!

What a privilege to join in the party despite reading this here. It is such a treat to watch these adorable little faces with their egg hunt and how they are having a blast spending time with each other. I'm sure they will cherish this photos when they're all grown. Happy Easter @smylie2005!

Thank you for your sweet comment. They really had a blast and I had a blast just watching them. Happy Easter to you! :)

Nice sis

Sounds like you had a fun day, @smylie2005.
It’s been years since I went on an egg hunt. Last one was like 5 years ago... You make me want to do it again... :0)

It was lovely! Its fun to watch the kids together. I was proud of Sophia helping with the baby. Most kiddos woulda been snatching up them eggs and she was just wanting to help the baby get her eggs... after filling up her basket of course!

Only one question really, does she know the words "Are we there yet"? Looks like everyone had a great time.

Haha!! No, thank goodness! The basket on her head was her form of protest for daddy taking too long inside the store! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Wao.....That Sophia blond! And J.J. I guess he was just being J.J lol.

An Easter gone well obviously. You have a good family.

Keep us posted on vacation happenings!

Yes, she has some very long blonde hair! It goes down to her butt when its down.
Will do! Thanks for stopping by dear! :)

The pleasure is mine @smylie2005. Give my blonde some hugs!!!!

Looks like you all had fun and a beautiful sunny day. We had to do the egg hunt indoors due to the cold. Otherwise the kids would have looked for eggs in the snow. ;0)

I dont blame you one bit!! If your kiddos are anything like mine, they probably wouldnt have minded looking in the snow! I on the other hand... Yup, it wouldve been inside!

Nice. I can't help but think that cousin JJ is waiting for the adults to get going so he can rob some candy from the other kids.

Lol! I gotta agree with you there! You are probably absolutely right! :D
