A New Nigeria (fall out with Mr President)

imagesVXTEWUA5.jpgimagesN9SLRX1K.jpgDressed in a white native attire, perhaps symbolic as it were. From the commencement of his address, it was almost certain it is another lecture which his congregation he leads are accustomed to. However this is a unique style of preaching very rear in Nigerian Church settings. And for many traditional Christians, a Pastor should not go beyond his jurisdiction- the jurisdiction which does not include Politics. This morning of January 14th of 2018, saw a total fallout between Pastor Bakare and his endorsed candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari. In his message he titled: IT IS TIME TO RENEGOTIATE OUR UNION, he spoke out on the wrongs of the present administration. Apparently the outspoken Clergy had tried to get his messages across to his friend, citing from the keynote lecture on the 1st of October 2017, in which he calmly pointed out flaws the administration of President Buhari had failed to adequately address.

It was a different ball game this morning as the atmosphere was charged and a heavy presence of the spirit of Political Icon late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was almost visible. By this I mean many references were made to his credit. As the man of God signed out, he enjoin everyone under the sound of his voice to echo it all over the media that: Nigeria is tired of primitivity, mediocrity and babaricity in governance. He opens with the very hot topic flying around about on his recent statement been believed to mean he is running for Presidency. He admitted that he is running, however that is not affirmative to say he is talking about election, which of course is the usual attribution to the word; running. As the lecture-cum-message was in progress, his tone began to change to convey his burdened heart as regards the disturbing issue prevalent in the country. Siting the recent Benue killings of 73 victims by menacing Fulani herdsmen, he berated the President for his continual silence concerning the issue. 'Is Nigeria in another Civil war? This government has to answer', he fumes as the passion in his voice can be heard across the streets. He appeared confounded by inactiveness of the Presidency concerning the issue of this herdsmen continual Genocide spray, while it was listed as the the 4th most deadly group of 2014. He further found it unreasonable for a government official to defend the possession of sophisticated fire-arms by the herdsmen, but failed to reveal where they obtain those fire-arms.

The Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly in Ogba Lagos, Pastor Tunde Bakare, descended on DSS and stated that the name seems to now stand for Deliberate Sinful Silence or also synonymous to Department of Sinful Silence. He furthermore clamped down on the President for being rather insensitive to the plights of Nigeria most especially the bereaved of the Benue killings. According to him, Mr President in his New Year address did not consider the menace and pains of the bereaved in the Benue killings. And he quoted from the book of Habakkuk 2:12: Woe to him who builds a nation with blood shed. He lamented how young men and women are leaving the shores of this country so rich, to be made slaves and prostitutes. He made a contrasts in the New Year's remarks of President Buhari and the President of China Xi Jinping. As the Chinese President affirmed that the government is poised to working for the people, President Buhari on the other hand chided Nigerians as impatient; wanting to improve our conditions instantly. According to Pastor Bakare again, and even more witty, Nigerians have always been resilient and maybe they are impatient now because they believe fast pace growth is possible if we get it right.

As to his credibility to run, he made mention of the dream he had as a thirteen years old boy discussing the future of Nigeria with Gen. Yakubu Gowon and Chief Obafemi Awolowo. To this purpose, he said, I was born to lead Nigeria into her prophetic destiny. Pastor Bakare said in his lecture that what Nigeria needs now is not election but a renegotiation of our union. After a while the Clergyman said he was pausing to show a video. In the video was a well relayed documentation of his vision for 'A NEW NIGERIA'. The quality and the content of the video outweighs what a Political party in Nigeria can conceive. It is however amazing that a small group of people can birth an Idea so fascinating and according to him; doable! A 3D animated video showed a 10-lane road with a fast moving electric train by the side. The video showed a reconstructed commercial areas superceding a city like New York. It is almost impossible to watch that clips and not have hope rise in you for this Nation called Nigeria. Pastor Tunde Bakare reveals himself as a man who knows his onions, and kept saying it is doable. But it is hard to say that he definitely will run in the 2019 election as Presidential candidate. From the look of things he is going to be very involved in Politics more than before. And I can liken his stance like a man, who decides to walk to a destination that requires a vehicle, and on the way a free vehicle offers him ride which he accepted since no strings attached. The vehicle in this case will be a Political Party. PTB as he is fondly called has stood out in integrity and truth. We had OBJ, GEJ, and GMB. So is destiny and predestination making way for one who will carry on the exploits of great Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Is the man, PTB (Pastor Tunde Bakare)? I end this in his words: Even if you are not interested in Politics, Politics will be interested in you. We arise as we welcome A New Nigeria.
