First Groups consultation day at Stirling bus station held on Friday 20th July and online survey that closed on Monday 23rdJuly after being open for less than a week, have been met with fury from local bus users and councillors alike.

Although the meeting was promoted by the Stirling Observer, concerns have been raised at the short notice given for the public consultation, and that it was reportedly not promoted on any of the bus routes and buses using the impacted routes, only at Stirling bus station itself. With the extremely short period of the online consultation also being questioned.

Local Conservative Councillors Douglas Dodds and Alastair Majury have requested that First, organise a follow-up consultation that is both better promoted and more notice given.

Local Conservative Councillor Douglas Dodds Said:
“I am concerned about the short notice, and have received concerns from a number of bus users. I ask that another consultation time be allocated with a sufficient notice period.”

Local Conservative Councillor Alastair Majury Said:
“I have asked First why so short a notice has been given and why the online survey is only available for people to respond to with less than a week’s time for people to provide a response. Like my colleague Councillor Dodds I have also asked First to arrange another better promoted consultation.”

Alastair Majury resides locally in the historic Scottish city of Dunblane, and is a Senior Regulatory Business Analyst working across the country. Alastair Majury is also a volunteer officer at the local Boys’ Brigade company, a charity which focuses on enriching the lives of children and young people, and building a stronger community. Alastair Majury also serves on the local council (Stirling Council) as Councillor Alastair Majury where he represents the ward of Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, topping the poll.
