It's been a whirlwind of a year for pop princess Ariana Grande. First she dropped "Thank U, Next," her second album within a six month period that instantly became a cultural phenomenon. Then she kicked off a massive world tour and soon after, headlined Coachella. And who could forget her signature Starbucks drink? Ehe Cloud Macchiato, in both caramel and cinnamon flavors, had us drinking all the sweetener for months.
Grande continues to push the limits, break down boundaries, and give us reason after reason to stan her till the end of time. And now, the music superstar is adding beauty legend to her long list of accomplishments.
At Wednesday night's Fragrance Foundation Awards, Grande took home the honor of Fragrance of the Year: Women's Popular Award for her latest fragrance, Cloud Eau de Parfum. She first teased the product last September before launching it with Ulta Beauty soon after. Up against Grande for the award were Britney Spears Prerogative, KKW Body, Victoria’s Secret Tease Rebel, and Wild Spirit Fragrances Driftwood Eau de Parfum. Clearly, it was a tough competition.
According to the product listing on Ulta's website, Cloud Eau de Parfum is an "uplifting scent that imbues a thoughtful, artistic expression of positivity and happiness." The fragrance combines hints of lavender, pear, bergamot, coconut, praline, and vanilla orchid, all pulled together with a base component of cashmere, just like your favorite comfy sweater. The 3.4-ounce product is sold for $60 and comes in the cutest collectible cloud bottle.
This isn't Grande's first perfume, however. She's launched five before this including Ari, Frankie, Moonlight, and Sweet Like Candy. Like her, many other music artists have launched lines of fragrances in the past, some of the most popular being Lady Gaga's Fame, Rihanna's Crush, and Taylor Swift's Incredible Things. Every year, the Fragrance Foundation Awards honor the best of the best, from outstanding beauty coverage to seasonal/holiday products to bath and body lines. Others who took home awards this week included Marc Jacob's Daisy Love Eau de Toilette and Tom Ford's Lost Cherry Eau de Parfum.
Is our girl on the brink of becoming a major beauty guru like Rihanna? It may be too soon to tell, but every time she wins another award, we're left with no tears left to cry for how talented and successful she is. All we know is this: The light is coming, and it's as bright, pink, and perfect as everything else she does.
