BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:00 P.M.) - Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassel slammed Prime Minister Saad Hariri during his interview with Russia Today.
During his interview, Bassel stated that ties with Syria won't be severed, adding that no one asked Hariri to vistit the country.
"No one asked Hariri to visit Syria," Bassel said during the interview.
“Ties with Syria are not going to be severed, but rather, become permanent," he continued.
“There is no reason to fabricate a crisis over the Lebanese-Syrian relations,” Bassel added.
Hariri recently stated that he refuses to restore ties with Syria and that he will not form a government if this is one of the conditions.
“If others insist on restoring Lebanese-Syrian ties from the gateway of the reopened Nassib border crossing, then the government will not be formed,” Hariri said, as quoted by Naharnet.
