BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:40 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a new attack against the so-called "Islamic State" (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh), today, near the U.S. Coalition lines in eastern Homs.
According to a military report, the Syrian Army heavily targeted the Islamic State's positions near the key town of Al-Sukhnah, which is located north of the U.S.-held Al-Tanf region of Homs.
The report said that the Syrian military struck the Daesh defenses with heavy artillery and airstrikes in this vast desert area.
In response to the Syrian Arab Army's attack, Daesh fired several artillery shells towards the government positions in the Al-Sukhnah countryside.
These latest clashes in the Al-Sukhnah countryside come just a week after the U.S. reportedly bombed the Syrian Arab Army's positions near the Daesh front-lines.
The U.S. Coalition said that their forces struck Daesh's positions near Al-Sukhah; however, the Syrian military claimed that the U.S.' attack hit their defenses instead.
