BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scored a massive advance in the Al-Safa region of Al-Sweida, today, after a fierce battle with the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) terrorists.
Led by the 3rd Corps and 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army began their attack by hammering Daesh's defenses with surface-to-surface missiles at the largest hilltop at Al-Safa.
Once they were able to destroy several Daesh trenches and hideouts, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the terrorist group's in a bid to capture this imperative hilltop.
Not long after storming the hilltop, the Syrian Arab Army was able to overwhelm the remaining Daesh militants in the area, forcing them to fall back to the western axis of the Al-Safa region.
According to a military source in the area, the Syrian Arab Army has now liberated more than 80 percent of the Al-Safa region, leaving only a small portion of territory still under Daesh control.
In addition to liberating more than 80 percent of Al-Safa, the Syrian Arab Army has imposed fire control over the entire region; this means Daesh will be at the mercy of the government missiles and artillery shells.
Furthermore, the Syrian Army will be fighting downhill for the first time during this imperative battle in southern Syria.
