BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) - The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) terror group took advantage of the rough weather in southeast Deir Ezzor on Monday to reenter their former stronghold, Hajin, that is located east of the Euphrates River.
According to local reports, the Islamic State managed to reenter the eastern districts of Hajin on Monday after launching a powerful counter-assault against the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Since making this advance, the Islamic State has allegedly moved their snipers into the buildings inside the eastern districts of Hajin.
The Islamic State often launched big attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces and Syrian Arab Army (SAA) during brief periods of rough weather.
Given the Deir Ezzor Governorate's occasional sandstorms, the Islamic State is often able to take advantage of the weathers conditions to retake ground from the enemy forces.
