BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 P.M.) - An Iraqi military commander told BasNews on Friday that their armed forces have officially entered three border-towns in western Nineveh in a bid to fully secure the Syrian border.
Hamad Al-Namis of the Nineveh Police told BasNews that the Iraqi military is extending its control from the Sinjar Desert to the Baaj Desert, which is just west of Mosul.
The Iraqi forces were backed by their US advisers, who are actively coordinating between the government troops and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) across the border.
Namis added that the Iraqi Armed Forces are constructing a permanent base inside the Sinjar Mountains.
