BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:20 P.M.) - Iraq will not adhere to the U.S. sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-'Abadi said on Tuesday.
"We are against international sanctions and there is an experience in Iraq that led to the weakening of the country and the people," state television quoted Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi as saying on Tuesday.
The Iraqi government currently maintains close diplomatic relations with Iran, despite their ties with the U.S. administration.
U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning on Tuesday, threatening to sanction any entity that does business with Iran.
