BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:35 P.M.) - The ongoing infighting between Al-Qaeda affiliate Ha'yat Tahrir al-Sham (better known by its former name, Al-Nusra Front) and Jabhat Tahrir Souriya (backed by Turkey) across northwest Syria is about to reach a whole new level of violence.
In the last 24 hours, opposition sources have noted that both forces allied with Jabhat Tahrir Souriya based in Afrin and Ha'yat Tahrir al-Sham reinforcements are rushing towards key contested areas in western Aleppo province - the strategic hilltop town of Dart Izza' chief among them.
Specifically, reports say that Jabhat Tahrir Souriya has been reinforced at Dart Izza' by main units of the Free Syrian Army's 9th Division. At the same time Ha'yat Tahrir al-Sham, with its reinforcements, may be about to launch major offensive to recapture the town which was once one of its most important strongholds.
This latest developments comes after about seven weeks of infighting during which time both Ha'yat Tahrir al-Sham and Jabhat Tahrir Souriya have already inflicted serious losses on one another - hundreds of fighters have been killed and dozens of armed vehicles (tanks and armored infantry carriers among them) destroyed.
