BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:40 P.M.) - Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian attended the CEDRE conference in Paris on Friday aimed at gathering support for Lebanon's economy.

"In this endeavor, Lebanon will not be able to succeed on its own, it needs the support of the international community," said Hariri during his opening speech.

This year, over 50 countries and international financial institutions - among them the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund - participate in the one-day conference. They are expected to put together an investment package worth $10 billion to boost Lebanon’s economy.

"France will announce a major effort, reflecting the level of our ambitions in Lebanon, of loans worth 400 million euros at preferential rates and 150 million euros in aid," said Le Drian while kicking off the event.
