Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Saturday that the reporting into the circumstances surrounding the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi "has become fairly hysterical," at a security summit in the Bahraini capital of Manama.
Al-Jubeir said that the investigation was ongoing and that "every day we uncover new things, every day we discover new items, new evidence comes to light."
The minister also dismissed claims that the incident would have a negative impact on Saudi Arabia's ties with the United States stating, "that relationship is ironclad."
He added that there continued to be many reasons for good relations between Saudi Arabia and the West in general, saying "we have huge trade and investment, we have huge energy issues, we have a similar world view in terms of the need for balance and order in our world."
After initially issuing conflicting statements, the Saudi Arabian government have admitted that Khashoggi died in their consulate in Istanbul, due to what they have called a "rogue operation" gone wrong.
