BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:20 A.M.) - Over 400 servicemen from the Russian military police forces have returned to their home base in Chechnya after completing their Syrian mission, the head of the Southern Military District’s press service Vadim Astafyev reported on Tuesday.
"About 400 servicemen of the military police battalion of the 58th combined arms army have returned to their home base in Chechnya from Syria," Astafyev said, as quoted by Tass News Agency.
According to the report, Astafyev said that the battalion had completed a three-month long mission that included guarding imperative military installation, ensuring public safety for civilians, escorting humanitarian convoys, and providing aid to reconciled settlements.
The report added that the police forces arrived at their home base this week; they were transported by planes from the military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces to the Mozdok Airfield in North Ossetia.
