BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 P.M.) - A Russian soldier was reportedly killed in the Latakia province on Monday when a group of Turkish-backed rebels attacked the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) positions in the Kurdish Mountains.

According to a military report from the Latakia province, the Russian soldier was killed on Monday morning when the Turkish-backed National Liberation Front (NLF) fired several mortar shells towards the Syrian Arab Army's positions near the key town of Kinsibba.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has yet to comment on this incident.

In addition to killing the Russian soldier, several Syrian Arab Army military personnel were reported dead or wounded by this big attack from the Turkish-backed rebels in northern Latakia.

No further details have been released.
