BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 P.M.) - Russian spy planes were spotted over the northwestern region of Syria for the second day in a row, a military source told Al-Masdar News from the province of Latakia.

According to the military source, the Russian Air Force's IL-20 spy planes flew several flights over the jihadist rebel positions in the northeastern countryside of Latakia.

The source said that the Russian IL-20 spy planes were gathering information about the jihadist rebels in the Jabal Al-Akrad region; this included their bases, trenches, and military posts.

The Russian Air Force has been stalking the positions of the jihadist rebels since Wednesday, when the latter attempted to bomb the Hmeimim Airport in southwest Latakia.

The jihadist drone attack was ultimately foiled by the Syrian air defense, but the fact they attempted to bomb the airport was a major violation of the Sochi agreement that was established on September 17th.
