SDF troops remain in control of Manbij after YPG withdrawal

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:20 A.M.) - The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are still in full control of Manbij after the withdrawal of the Kurdish-led People's Protection Units (YPG) on Wednesday.

Speaking to Al-Masdar this morning, a Syrian military officer deployed just outside of Manbij said that the Manbij Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces are still in full control of the city.

The officer said that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has not entered Manbij, nor have they made any attempt to take control of the city.

He would add that the U.S. Armed Forces are still conducting patrols in Manbij, despite President Donald Trump's withdrawal announcement last month.

The Syrian Arab Army will not likely enter Manbij until the U.S. Coalition forces withdraw from the city, as all parties are attempting to avoid any potential hostilities.
