BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:20 P.M.) - The Belgrade High Court of Serbia on Wednesday sentenced seven people to prison on charges of sending fighters and money to terrorist groups fighting in Syria, the Associated Press reported this afternoon.
According to the report, the seven defendants were sentenced to up to eleven years in prison for working with the Islamic State (ISIS) and Al-Nusra Front.
Of the seven charged by the Belgrade High Court, three of them were sentenced in absentia.
One of the missing defendants is believed to have been killed while fighting with the terrorist groups in Syria.
The Associated Press added that the majority of the defendants came from the Sandzak region of southern Serbia; they would also deny the charges.
