BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is officially in full control of the eastern Qalamoun region after the last militants left the towns of Al-Nassariyah and Jaroud.
The battle for the eastern Qalamoun began two weeks ago, when the Syrian Arab Army's Tiger Forces stormed the towns of Al-Nassariyah and Jaroud.
Once the Tiger Forces seized a significant portion of ground, the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Thuwar Al-Sham agreed to surrender their last positions in the eastern Qalamoun.
With the eastern Qalamoun cleared, the Syrian Army has shifted their attention to the last rebel and Islamic State (ISIS) held areas in rural Damascus.
