BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:45 A.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army has reestablished control over the Nassib border crossing with Jordan; an area which has been under the control of opposition forces for nearly three years, footage filmed on Saturday shows.
Footage shows soldiers, tanks, and other military vehicles which were posted at the border crossing.
The retaking of the Nassib crossing comes as part of the Syrian government's ongoing push to retake the southeastern province of Daraa.
Since retaking the Nassib crossing, the Syrian Arab Army has moved several units to the Jordanian border in order to ensure the safety of this area.
The Syrian government is now working to restore the Damascus-Amman Highway in order to promote trade and commerce between the two Levantine nations.
At least 270,000 people have been displaced in the Daraa region since June 20 due to the intense fighting, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
