BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) uncovered a large stockpiile of weapons that were left behind by the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

According to a report from state-owned Al-Ikhbariya, the weapons were discovered by the Syrian Arab Army in the western countryside of Albukamal.

The weapon stockpile consisted of a large quantity of IEDs, mines, and ammunition that were left behind by the Islamic State after they abandoned this area.

As shown in the video below, the weapons were recently discovered, despite the fact the Islamic State terrorists retreated from the area almost eight months ago.

The Syrian Army expects to find more stockpiles of weapons left behind by the Islamic State, as they have yet to fully clear all the buildings in this vast desert region.

The city of Albukamal is located in the southeastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate; it was previously one of the Islamic State's most important strongholds in eastern Syria because of its proximity to the Iraqi border.
