BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:30 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a powerful assault in the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate after suffering heavy casualties at the hands of the jihadist rebels in the area.
According to a military source in the area, the Syrian Arab Army's Republican Guard fired several surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells towards the jihadist trenches in the Turkmen Mountains (var. Jabal Turkmen), scoring a number of direct hits.
The source said that the Syrian Arab Army specifically targeted Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham's trenches in the Ruwaysat Al-Malk area, which is where the latter often launches rockets from in the Turkmen Mountains.
These strikes by the Syrian Arab Army come just days after the jihadist rebels killed more than 15 soldiers in two separates attacks on their positions in both the Turkmen and Kurdish mountains of northern Latakia.
