BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:20 P.M.) - The Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim stated on Thursday that his country's military currently has 11 'temporary' bases in northern Iraq.

Yildirim told A Haber TV that in addition to having 11 bases, the Turkish military has cleared 400 square kilometers of Iraq territory that had a Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) presence.

"We are shelling Mt. Qandil through air operations at times," Yildirim stated, as quoted by the Daily Sabah.

"This time PKK terrorists are crossing into Iran when they are on the back foot," he continued.

The Turkish premier stressed that his nation has no problem with their neighbors Iraq and Iran and that the Turkish military is eliminating a terrorist group.

"We cleared the area in northwestern Syria's Afrin during Operation Olive Branch. We will do the same thing in Mt. Qandil area," he added.
