Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that US President’s Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw American troops from Syria means Washington is attempting to shift the responsibility of the conflict's settlement to other coalition members, speaking at a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart in Moscow on Friday.
"When it comes to the deployment on the ground, I refer to the French, British, German soldiers, whose presence there is also illegitimate. The coalition’s air force is also deployed there," he said.
Speaking about Turkey’s plans to launch an offensive on Manbij, Lavrov said that Russia views it as “extra anti-terrorist actions in the Syrian East.”
Al-Safadi on his part praised Russia’s efforts and the countries’ engagement in the Syrian conflict settlement.
He also mentioned the Rukban refugee camp on the border with Jordan, saying that the only way to improve the situation is "to work out a common mechanism which would allow the Syrian refugees to return home as early as possible."
"We hope that together with Russia and the USA within the framework of the trilateral talks we will manage to make certain progress on this matter,” al-Safadi concluded.
