
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:15 P.M.) - Shortly after the Islamic State infiltrated the bordering city of Albu Kamal from the western axis, the Syrian Army re-organized ranks and managed to expel the terror organization and fully secure the surrounding areas.
Video footage posted online shows part of the fierce battles that have taken place in the western flanks of the city.
The footage displays seized vehicles used by ISIS in the attack and a couple of ISIS jihadists killed in the clashes.
In a related context, the chief of the SAA's 11th Armored Division, Major-general Ali al-Hussein, died of a heart attack while leading the battles against the Islamic State in Albu Kamal.
