DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:05 P.M.) – The Syrian Army Command has dispatched a paramilitary group to help Syrian forces maintain their positions amid recurrent ISIS onslaughts.
The reinforcements were sent after the Islamic State intensified attacks on the Syrian Army and allied forces in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor province. ISIS deadly attacks have proved costly for the government forces in terms of troops and military hardware.
Saraya AL-Areen, an independent Syrian group that fights alongside SAA like NDF under command of Military Intelligence Directorate, has been assigned with beefing up the SAA defensives in the oil-rich province.
A convoy of technical vehicles manned with scores of heavy-armed, battle-hardened fighters left the Syrian capital to eastern Syria.
