BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:45 P.M.) - The leader of the Tawhid Party Wiam Wahhab filed a lawsuit against Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Thursday after several banners insulting and threatening the former minister were seen in Beirut and Tripoli recently.
“I have filed a lawsuit against Saad Hariri and his aides over the banners which carried insults and death threats and which preceded the leaked video,” Wahhab stated on Twitter.
The feud between Wahhab and Hariri has been ongoing for a while; however, it recently intensified after a leaked tape of Wahhab insulting the Lebanese Prime Minister and his father surfaced.
On the leaked tapes, Wahhab says "had his father (Rafic Hariri) not been the martyr premier, no one would have even appointed him (Saad Hariri) as a building janitor."In order to ease tensions, Saad Hariri's Future Movement called on its supporters to refrain from insults and violence.
“The Future Movement reiterates its call to friends, supporters and citizens hurt by the cheap remarks of some parties to refrain from reactions that contradict with the behavior and upbringing of most Lebanese, especially if they emulate the image and approach of those using an impertinent rhetoric to prove their political existence,” they said.
