Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko stated that a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for Mikheil Saakashvili, will not be prolonged since he regularly comes in for questioning. Saakashvili, following many bizarre rallies, started to report for interrogations.

He reports whenever summoned, that's why I think no extra measures are needed. As far as I know, he will soon be summoned for a series of interrogations. Therefore, I hope that he will also report and testify.

Lutsenko told the Ukrainian press on February 6.

He also noted that the examination confirmed the authenticity of voices on tapes with wiretapped phone conversations between Saakashvili and Serhiy Kurchenko.

Over $200,000 was transferred from Kurchenko's office to finance the protests set up by Saakashvili in particular, aimed at the possible seizure of the Ukrainian parliament premises.

On February 5, Kyiv's Economic Court of Appeals denied the ex-president of Georgia his refugee status, which might become grounds for his extradition.
