Media Silent as Celebrities Raise Over $2 Million and an Airplane for the Famine in Somalia

(Truth Theory) A social media campaign has just surpassed its goal of $2 million (now sitting at $2.3 million) for the famine in Somalia. The campaign launched by social media star Jerome Jarre has received wide support since he tweeted Turkish Airlines a video, asking them to provide a plane for humanitarian aid.

Turkish Airlines responded the next day with a tweet saying “We love Somalia. We got the call for this meaningful flight.”

Since then the campaign has received support from Hollywood actor Ben Stiller, a $25,000 donation from Calvin Harris and a number of other celebrities have joined in on the action by creating videos for the campaign. Turkish Airlines has agreed that they can fill a plane with 60 tons of food and aid, and have also agreed to send food on commercial flights until the famine is over.
