Wow. This is a great story -- very detailed and well researched. And the on-the-ground photos are amazing. I'm wondering why, with only three Super Bowls being labeled as National Special Security Events, this was one of them? What a shame if it was labeled a National Special Security Event just because people might kneel during the anthem. :(

And you had a really good point about "normalizing" the militarization of the police, with people taking selfies with militarized cops and such. I hadn't thought about that angle, but it's very likely part of what's going on. Interesting take. Thank you for this story.

that's a great question. i was wondering that, too, but didn't really stumble across much besides numerous people repeating that it's a national security event. folks taking photos of themselves with the vehicles and the folks all dolled up in gear was happening constantly. i even stopped to take a few photos for people. ha!

Ha! That's funny that you were asked to take photos for them. How ironic! :D

I saw the military uniforms and National Guard Humvees in downtown Minneapolis with my own eyes and can confirm all of that. Security is important, to a point, but it was unacceptable use of military hardware.

This is a very well written article thank you for sharing. The pictures are amazing as well very high quality great job. Now my opinion this right here is overkill what is the government thinking I could understand terrorist threat if they had something like that but because people might be kneeling down they eat it all of this it's ridiculous Vulgar Display of Power which gets him know where it makes people be anti police even more. I don't think it's cool it's not right people are there to have fun and enjoy the Super Bowl. Not to be herded like sheep by Homeland Security.

i'm happy to hear you enjoy the photos.. i enjoyed taking them. :)

Well, I wonder now what the definition of "safe" is actually...

Hi @cheetah! This is indeed our content, and the link you sent there is our website. Is there a way you can white-list us? Most of our content will be appearing in both places.

@antimedia: I've been wondering about this too. I just found this article that explains the cheetah bot. Apparently they do white lists, but to get on it, your original story should link to the Steemit version too. I didn't know that, but will have to remember about linking to the Steemit posts in the future. Here are two stories I found about it, but not sure if anything's changed since they were written: Cheetah Bot Explanation and Cheetah Bot Explanation 2

@kittenlaw - hi! i'm a human. awesome info.. i was wondering how that worked.

If you willingly give up your freedom in the name of security you probably didn't deserve the freedom in the first place.
