Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman founded the Islamic Foundation on 22 March 1975 for the promotion and spread of Islam. The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating and constructing the foundation stone of Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center at 9 places in the first phase under the project titled 560 Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center in each district and upazila.
Before the general elections of 1970, the Prime Minister quoted Bangabandhu's speech on radio broadcasting for the nation, said, "We believe in justice Islam. Our Islam is Islam of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) That is, Islam has taught the people - Mantra of justice and justice. We believe that and our status of our religion should be upheld.
