KUALA LUMPUR: A suspect, believed to have been involved in a gold shop in the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan, has been shot dead at the Connow Park in Cheras here last night.
The 22-year-old local suspect was detected driving a PERODUA Myvi car in a suspicious state in the Cheras area by a police team from Bukit Aman's planned Criminal Special Task Force (STAFOC) and the Serious Criminal Investigation (D9) Headquarters of the Police Contingent (IPK) Kuala Lumpur, who conducted patrols after receiving information, at about 10.30pm.
The source said the police then ordered the man to stop his vehicle for inspection purposes.
When asked to check, the suspect is reluctant to cooperate and shoot at police from the vehicle's vehicle direction.
"The police then responded to the suspect's shootings to defend themselves following the suspect's actions that threatened the safety of officers and members," he said.
He said the shot was believed to be suspect and the police check in the vehicle found he had died.
The initial police check in the vehicle found a gun used by the suspect.
The source said the findings found suspects originating from Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Sepang had a criminal record and were required by police for some offenses including firearms and attempted robbery.
