In his first state address to Congress, US President Donald Trump called countries opposing his move to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel as an 'American enemy'.
In other words, Trump mentioned that 128 countries, including Indonesia, have ignored the US sovereign right to make that decision. Because, these countries reject the step Trump in the Assembly of the United Nations General Assembly (UN).
Trump also re-talk about the assistance provided to the countries of the US. He also threatened only to provide assistance to countries that agree with him alone.
"US taxpayers generously provide billions of dollars of aid to these countries every year, so tonight I ask Congress to pass a law ensuring that aid is only given to a country that serves the interests of America and other countries, a country that is a friend of America, not an enemy country of America, "he was quoted from the page Aljazeera, Thursday (1/2).
The US usually only branded 'enemies' to the countries that sponsor terrorists. The US State Department has named these countries as Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria. However, a spokesman for the US State Department was reluctant to explain the purpose of Trump's speech.
"I will not elaborate on the words of the president ... The vote in the General Assembly is not a binding resolution that does not contribute any contribution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and create peace in the region," he told Aljazeera.
As is known, on December 6 last year, Trump announced the US recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The decision automatically invites criticism from international parties who believe Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine.
In addition, Trump also plans to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem
Trump's admission gets opposition from the majority of countries in the United Nations. A total of 128 countries, including Britain and Indonesia, rejected Trump's decision. Meanwhile, seven other countries agreed and 35 other countries abstained.
Turkey is among the most violent of the Trump claims about Jerusalem. On initiative Turkey State Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held a meeting in Istanbul and declared East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
President Joko Widodo even admitted surprised by Trump's announcement about Jerusalem. He admits to being annoyed and irritated by Trump's admission. Jokowi stressed that Indonesia is still supporting Palestine and always along with the struggle of the Palestinian people.
